The Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) is an initiative by six countries – India and five ASEAN countries, namely, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam for cooperation in tourism, culture, education, as well as transport and communications. In a dynamic collaboration facilitated by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India, Government of India, trainers from Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) countries recently participated in a transformative Train the Trainer (TOT) Programme in Mechatronics at NSTI, Yeshwantpur. Following this enriching experience, the delegation, comprising 16 trainers, delved into the contributions of industry clusters at the Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA), Bengaluru. ELCIA's leadership, including Mr. Vaidyanathan A and Ms. @Rama NS, showcased initiatives at ELCIA and its ELCIA Skill Development Centre (ESDC). The visit also included a comprehensive exploration of the Smart City concept and an in-depth understanding of Tech-Hub initiatives. The ELCIA Cluster team, led by Mr. Thind PS (Cluster VP), guided the visitors through the ELCIA Tech-hub initiatives in the Mechanical and Electronics sections. G. Venkatesh, Deputy Director of the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Karnataka State, extended sincere appreciation for ELCIA's efforts, highlighting the role of industry clusters in India's skill initiative. The Malaviya Mission—Teachers Training Programme by the University Grants Commission aims to provide tailored training programmes for teachers. This programme will work for the capacity building of faculty members in higher educational institutions. The two-week online programme shall focus on various themes identified for course curriculum/content for capacity building of faculty members at higher educational institutions. The 8 themes include Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), Academic Leadership, Governance and Management, Higher Education and Society, Research and Development, Skill Development, Student Diversity and Inclusive Education and Information and Communication Technology. To facilitate this transformative journey, the UGC has also established a dedicated portal for faculty members to register for the capacity-building programmes.
