I created this continuous line figure drawing as a demo for the Freshman Drawing Methods class I teach at the Columbus College of Art and Design. The drawing was made using black pen on marker paper and took around 5 minutes to complete. In a continuous line drawing, the pen is never lifted off the page, which results in a finished drawing with a lot of expression. I like to sketch on Bienfang Graphics 360 Marker paper with a Uniball Onyx. How far back does something have to go to be a throwback? Yeah, I'm not sure either. Here is an illustration I did in grad school. It is a play on Norman Rockwell's Triple Self Portrait. It is based on a novel imaging technique that uses a synthesized form of scorpion venom to light up brain tumors and has shown promise in a clinical trial. The piece is entitled Tumor Paint.
