CMS announced the Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM) on April 10, 2024. This proposed mandatory model will provide episode-based payments for five types of surgical procedures for five years. TEAM aims to hold hospitals accountable for the quality, cost, and outcomes of care for Medicare beneficiaries undergoing certain high-cost and high-volume surgical procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings. CMS will determine which acute care hospitals will participate in the model based on selected geographic regions and is currently soliciting feedback until June 10, 2024. 📢🏥 Understanding Outpatient and Inpatient Services! 🌟 Outpatient services refer to medical treatments or procedures that do not require a hospital stay. These can include visits to the doctor's office, diagnostic tests, or minor surgeries. With outpatient care, you typically visit a healthcare facility and return home the same day. On the other hand, inpatient services involve hospital stays for more extensive treatments or surgeries. Inpatient care may include overnight stays, room and board fees, and round-the-clock medical supervision. These services are often necessary for more complex procedures or conditions that require continuous monitoring and care. It is important to understand the difference between outpatient and hospital benefits, as they affect coverage and deductibles. Be sure to check the policy to see what services are covered and what costs are covered. If you have questions or need guidance regarding your insurance coverage for outpatient or inpatient services, Diana Reeves Agency can help you figure it out.
