Dear Friends, My "Saturday Date" with HHH Wasn't What I Expected (But Totally Worth It!) This past Saturday, I found myself with mixed feelings about attending a workshop for Head Held High (HHH) NGO. After a long week, the idea of another commitment wasn't exactly thrilling. But then, my boss offered a brilliant perspective. He said, "Sure, there might be reasons to skip it, but what about just one reason to attend?" That question struck a chord. I'm fortunate for the many blessings in my life, and giving back to those in need felt like the perfect way to share my good fortune. So, I decided to ditch the usual Saturday plans and head out for a date with HHH! The Power of Empathy and Collaboration The HHH team was incredible. They emphasized the power of empathy, not just for others, but for our own emotional well-being. They shared inspiring stories of lives transformed by selfless volunteers, and it truly left a mark. Why Volunteer? It's a Win-Win! Let's be honest, volunteering isn't always about convenience. But the rewards are undeniable. Here's what I discovered: ●     Strengthens Empathy & Emotional Intelligence: Understanding the needs of others fosters compassion and builds your ability to navigate social situations effectively. ●     Boosts Happiness & Well-being: Studies show volunteering reduces stress, combats feelings of isolation, and leads to a greater sense of purpose. ●     Develops New Skills & Knowledge: Volunteering opportunities often allow you to learn new things, gain valuable experience, and expand your professional network. ●     The Power of Teamwork: Working together towards a shared goal can be incredibly motivating and fosters a sense of community. ●     Become more sensitive to others and environment ●     Embracing New Challenges: Sometimes, the most rewarding experiences lie just beyond our comfort zone. Beyond the Workshop: A Peaceful Sanctuary The venue itself was amazing! The Hearfulness Ashram in Manapakam offered a stunning and peaceful escape. I highly recommend checking it out! We live in a world where volunteer means a source to get business, let's pause and reflect on the essence of volunteerism. The profound truth is we human beings are a community itself, therefore, we can't navigate life's journey in isolation. Volunteering is not a grand gesture; it's a fundamental aspect of being human. It's the acknowledgment that there are things we simply can't achieve on our own, and there's an inherent beauty in reaching out to others for support. It's just that one feeling - "Willingness" to do it without benefitting from the cause or an event. Willingness comes from a desire to see ourselves and others happy. By this I mean the purpose of our existence should be fulfilled and the purpose lies in the purity of intentions, devoid of any ulterior motives. The motto should never be to seek applause or to build personal empires out of it. Let's refrain from turning it into a checklist of personal achievements. Because when the motive shifts from willingness to benefitting, it results in diluting the authenticity of the cause. Empower the shared language to be "acts of kindness" rather than the words we speak to be recognized. Furthermore, we have power to enrich so why not to keep up with the lessons learnt, experiences gained, and shed the feather of "I did this for them"/ "I always do this here".  Let us all focus on the collective joy we bring, which can't obvious be measured in any terms. It's not something to alter and must do thing, but it's simply reflecting who we are as a community, and then let nature takes it course of spreading joy! 🗓️ 4 days. 👣 66,549 steps. 🏃🏻♀️ 42.62 km covered. ☀️❄️💨⛅️ [Seemingly] 4 seasons. 🎭 This past week I have spent my time off volunteering at a Fringe Theatre Festival - a 4-day long event celebrating the value and beauty of creativity and performing arts, and all its importance to society. During this time, I have cherished every moment and can safely say that my experience meant: 1. I have learnt so much about the field of performing arts - how much passion, creativity and hard work goes behind every show, every event, every message the performers aim to convey. 2. Discovered a lot about myself - recognising my greatest skills and how they are transferable in a world I have not had much experience in before. 3. Networking - without this opportunity there would be a number of incredible people I would never have met, and many stories I would never have heard. 4. Giving back - any role can make a difference (especially when it comes to volunteering). Making something happen can make a huge difference to the wider community, and surely that alone makes it worth it? 5. I had fun! No matter what came up, I enjoyed and/or appreciated every moment. Trying something new comes with its challenges, but also so many memories and smiles. To those unsure whether to volunteer? Six Secrets I learnt about Volunteering!🤫 🔸Volunteering isn’t just about giving but also about receiving. It offers opportunities for personal growth, allowing volunteers to develop new skills, gain valuable experiences and broaden their reach. 🔸I started volunteering few months after I started learning graphic design despite the fact that I only had limited skills but volunteering boosted my growth and helped me develop new skills. 🔸Moreso, it has given me access to valuable communities and several opportunities. Happy Friday, y'all! Hope you can take the weekend to rest and recharge! Here are a few awesome ways I've seen my numbers-minded candidates doing just that in the past few weeks: 1. Some are new dads and moms coming off of parental leave that are PASSIONATE about introducing new adventures to their infants 2. Others are hybrid working and rediscovering weeknight hobbies on their work from home evenings (horseback riding, golfing, and trivia to name a few) 3. Some are gearing up for a season of coaching their kids' summer leagues (hello, coach pitch) or volunteering for a non-profit they love 4. Others are utilizing well-earned PTO to attend music festivals, hit up the beach, or take that backpacking trip out west!
