Congratulations to Trans Mountain on the crowning achievement of the commercial start of its expanded TMX pipeline. Meeting rising energy demand, of all forms, is a defining challenge of our time. North America’s abundant supply of energy can provide reliable and affordable energy to partners around the world. Major projects like TMX involve tens of thousands of Canadians. I remember the pride for our team and for Canada as we celebrated the mechanical completion of the Coastal GasLink pipeline last year. As the first direct link for Canadian natural gas to reach global liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets, we are reducing global emissions while delivering local prosperity. Once operating, we will deliver 100 per cent of Canada’s LNG feed gas, the most responsibly produced natural gas in the world, to where it is needed most. Canada is uniquely positioned to help bring North America’s energy abundance to the world – we just need regulatory certainty to build the energy infrastructure to do it. We stand ready, with our colleagues at Trans Mountain and other Canadian energy companies, to help meet this demand and secure a stronger energy future together. With Coastal GasLink and TMX now complete, these nation building projects are no longer a pipe dream.

Succession.  Over the course of the last few year we’ve witnessed a fair number of successions:  One hereditary for a head of state Two parliamentary ones for unelected and/or incompetent prime ministers One nepotistic one for the owner of a media empire,  Talking of which - the eponymous but disappointing fourth series of the Logan Roy Succession saga. (Frankly, it lost steam after episode 3.) I had thought that we’d seen #ChrisPackham succeed Attenborough with his brilliant series ‘Earth’, but Sir David is holding onto his throne with Planet Earth III.  (I assume that the suffix is a ‘3’ but it could also be ‘ill’ - which is also accurate).   Personal sidebar: I owe a debt of gratitude to #DavidAttenborough. It was his ground-breaking natural history programs (when combined with the eloquence of Carl Sagan and the eccentric genius of Patrick Moore) which sparked my interest in how the planet works and led to my career choice.)   As I've moved to my new job at the helm of the #Salamanderfloatingwind project, I’ve been very fortunate to be involved in recruiting my successor for the head of #Ørsted’s west coast portfolio.  This collection of pioneering assets, which has generated over 52TWh of electricity whilst I’ve been involved, has an amazing group of women and men working on it. Appointing the right successor was important - both practically and for me, emotionally. Fortunately we were able to select a talented successor from an excellent list of candidates. I can now relax a bit, knowing that #Ørsted’s (and our JV partners') west coast assets will be well looked after, continuing to generate many more TWh for the foreseeable future.   #Salamanderfloatingwind #Ørsted #offshorewind #catchusifyoucan
