While I love a good vacation, the pandemic era taught me the value of staycations. It used to feel hard to give myself permission to use my vacation time to stay home, but every time I did, I felt more rejuvenated than a travel vacation. So now I want to spread the message and the permission – give yourself a staycation! Staycation prompts: 🌴 Explore local vacation experiences – Reduce driving time and explore vacation-y activities in your backyard or local city (e.g. museums, nature excursions) ✍ Journal – Process the emotions that you are carrying day-to-day 🏠 Organize your home – A wonderful gift to your future working self to move through the physical space more easily 💪 Exercise – Extra endorphins and habit building for when you are back at work 🕘 Slow down – Reduce the pace of life to enjoy it! 📚 Read a book – While reading a book on the beach may be touted as the epitome of vacationing, I think it’s just fine at my own comfy couch or local park 💅 Spa time - Give your body some care ✔ High importance / Low urgency to-do list items – you know those handful of things that will feel SO GOOD to have done but aren’t urgent enough to do in the work week ❤️ Family and friends – Connect with people who give your life meaning (This photo was from a recent 1 day #staycation – drove 20 minutes, paddle boarded 45 minutes and found a little quiet lake spot I hadn’t visited before.)

What a wonderful post. I completely agree and sometimes we forget about all the good things that are close-by. Thank you so much for bringing this up.

I love this! A staycation can be so recharging, especially if you work a busy job. It looks like you found a beautiful new local spot to paddle board, what a treat 🙂
