When you can’t let your cat out because you’re afraid he might invade Poland. Any suggestions? Today marks the beginning of World War II. War is the last tool of negotiation, and the beginning of hardship, resentment, and damages. Rarely are there ‘just’ wars. Likely, wars are justified instead, and also a likely sign of bad leadership. #negotiationtips #negotiationskills #humoroftheday #historymatters #leadershipmatters #criticalthinkingskills

Leadership is universal. Just watched the FII’s 5th Anniversary event (2021), "The Board of Changemakers: Investing for Impact," featuring industry leaders from Europe, Africa, UAE, and the United States. Collectively, these seven high-profile business leaders oversee organizations with a market capitalization that likely exceeds $10 trillion. 🌍 What struck me wasn't just their influence, but their shared commitment to solving global challenges. It’s a timely reminder that while leadership struggles may be universal, so too is the capacity for transformative change. These industry giants don’t come across that different from the CEOs and company leaders I've met throughout my career. They face the same challenges and have similar responsibilities. 🎯 How are you leveraging your leadership role to drive meaningful change in your industry or community? If you're in a leadership role, think about this: we all have the potential to drive meaningful impact, no matter the size of our playground. Let’s not underestimate our collective power. #InspirationalLeadership #FII2021 #Changemakers #GlobalImpact

As professionals, we often navigate complex organizational changes and leadership transitions. Reflecting on ancient Rome's transformation from Republic to Empire offers intriguing lessons in leadership, ambition, and the art of governance. Julius Caesar's daring, Augustus' strategic consolidation of power, and the Senate's intricate political maneuvers highlight the timeless nature of leadership challenges. Let's discuss: How can historical insights into power dynamics inform our modern leadership practices? #LeadershipLessons #AncientRome #ProfessionalGrowth

This leadership discussion with great minds like Ray Dalio is well worth the one-hour investment of your time. We are amidst a changing world order and understanding the potential impacts in all areas of life and work is a worthwhile endeavor for leaders today. I especially resonated with David Solomon CEO of Goldman Sachs commentary about the continued difficulty in attracting and retaining top talent across all sectors. #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipmatters #changingworld https://lnkd.in/gaQ-EsXb

We all use the levers of influence. A great depiction of the reciprocity and social proof lever is used by the Caesar in the famous scene here (minute 2:40 and on). He uses money to get one on board and then uses his example to get his allegiance back of the whole legion. What lesson does it teach us in leadership? I recommend reading more about this in Robert Cialdini's book Influence. #influence #leadership #gravitas https://lnkd.in/ddEgBD9P

♨ An orchestra conductor faces the ultimate #leadership challenge: creating perfect harmony without saying a word. In this fascinating TeD talk, Itay Talgam explores the unique styles of six great 20th-century conductors, revealing crucial lessons for all leaders. 🎶 I really love how Itay manages to show that invisible leadership isn’t about being unseen; it’s about orchestrating greatness from behind the scenes. It's about being a conductor, not a dictator. 🎙 Leonard Bernstein in the last couple of minutes is simply magnificent... 🙄 I can of course not help but point out that it is high time for more diversity amongst conductors. To all the ladies out there, especially those who recently attended the WoMen in Finance Belgium conference on Leadership: discover your inner maestro and conduct your own symphony of success. 🎶🌟 #leadership #womenofinfluence #elections #VoteWisely Claire Godding Nathalie Delaere Fernanda A. When asked what is his next invention, Richard Turere replied, “ I want to make an electric fence.” Persumably that was also to keep the lions out. But the gem was what he said next. “But I know electric fences are already invented, but I want to make mine.” That simple statement there is innovation at its best.
