I'm really looking forward to our next Tokenization Forum session taking place next Tuesday 2nd July at 16.00 BST. Not only does it promise to be a great discussion with industry leaders in the custody space, but I'm also delighted that we are able to showcase the new initiatives that have been driven under the Tokenization Forum thus far. It's been a busy H1 with no shortage of deliverables lined up for H2! Thank you to Global Digital Finance members, Forum co-chairs, and speakers who have joined and led these sessions and for supporting what has been such a fantastic 2024 programme so far.

It was a pleasure attending Dutch Blockchain Days 2024 last week and having the opportunity to lead a breakout session on real-world asset tokenization. In particular, it was a pleasure to delve into the granular detail of Global Digital Finance's recent research to bring some data backed intelligence assessing the broader landscape of the institutionalisation of digital assets. Some key findings that I highlighted during the session include: 🔸 91% institutions surveyed handle tokenized real-world assets, such as digital or tokenized securities or commodities, and those who have not done so plan to in the future, with 100% respondents intending on doing so if they do not already. 🔸 Major push factors driving this move from PoC to Production include changing investor expectations, margin compressions, and increased investor access. 🔸 Continued buy-side adoption challenges include fragmented liquidity and go-to-market challenges, interoperability challenges, achieving critical mass and building the case for tokenization. 🔸 Despite the challenges, institutions' strategic investments, focus on training, and collaboration with industry partners underscore a broader recognition: digital assets are not just a speculative investment but a foundational element of the future of financial services.
