Pop Art was a fabulous clash of graphic design and fine art.
Most of the artists involved had either a graphic design training or some other experience of the 'commercial art' business. This combination produced some of the most memorable artworks of the 20th century.
I like to think the Nightwatcher™ imagery from my MassObservation.co.uk project is a 21st century continuation of this ethos - I call it NEO-POP. In a previous existence I was an art director at Saatchi and Saatchi, originally trained in graphic design and transitioned to fine art over 20 years ago ..... I am following in some famous footsteps indeed. Andy B

One of the things I noticed over the last 12 months is the performance resiliency of certain segment of Pop Art despite the art market slow downs, which I think is a fair rebalance of prints and multiple market in consideration of the fact that the Pop Art movement has been the one that created the idea of "collectibles" within the fine art.
Dandelions by Claude Monet c. 1900 courtesy Private Collection
🌼 The Magic of "Dandelions":
At first glance, "Dandelions" captivates with its vibrant colors and light play. Monet's genius in capturing the essence of nature is evident. The way he portrays the dandelions is not just realistic; it's almost as if you can feel the breeze moving through them.
🖌️ Monet's Technique:
Monet's brushwork in this piece is a testament to his mastery of light and color. The dandelions are set against a backdrop that is both harmonious and contrasting, showcasing his skill in creating depth and texture.
🎨 A Private Treasure:
Currently part of a private collection, "Dandelions" is a reminder of the many incredible artworks that are not always in the public eye. It's a privilege to get a glimpse of such a piece, reminding us of the vast and diverse world of art that exists beyond museums and galleries.

Let's call this one 'Friction', shall we?
The spectacular, and often controversial, work by Refik Anadol has stirred quite the conversation amidst art enthusiasts. The Museum of Modern Art or MoMA initially built its foundation with some 8 odd prints, archive news tells me. It's now home to 200,000 pieces from across the world, while millions consider it the altar of galleries, of all time, really. The comment section here, however, is jarringly split between those who find the idea of digital art acquired by MoMA positively loathsome and those who are positively spellbound. The larger question this, however, begs is- How does this impact the degree of freedom for an artist with their chosen method of creation and does the cynicism around digital art censor possibilities of innovation?
Refik Anadol's observations of colour, form and motion interpreted in his AI Data Sculptures dabbles with how artists confront machine learning. MoMA describes Unsupervised as "a meditation on technology, creativity, and modern art."
Meanwhile, late last year, L’Or de J’adore was released followed by a hypnotic collaboration between Anadol and the Dior's CD of Perfume, Francis Kurkdjian. As observed by Bella Koopman in the 10 magazine - "Seeking to embody the floral motif central to the offering, Anadol drew data from the perfume’s composition and used artificial intelligence to create his visually stunning creation."
Dynamic, liquid gold imagined by AI, now on display across Dior stores, globally, after quite the celebration of its creation, Paris exhibition, et al.
What's interesting is that as the world's luxury powerhouses turn patrons to the new and exciting turn of art-events, do they stand to alienate their otherwise conservative clientele? More importantly, in the business of spectacle and chatter, does that even stand to matter?
What I personally find funny is that, back in 1929, when MoMA was founded by three stellar women, modern art collectors- scarce as they were, society was obviously largely dominated by men who, safely put, despised modern art, sometimes with quite the passion. It still found its way into being.
Innovation Friction on loop under the same roof is the real art at work, I'd say.

Working with collectors on their estate plans takes a high level of care.
What happens to the collection in the event of incapacity?
What happens to the collection on death?
Often, the client will believe that a museum or institution will take the items - this is not always the case, and even if it is the case who pays to insure and ship the items?
If not, where do the items go?
To another collector?
For art and crafts, back to the artist?
If you have art or collectables in your home, make a list/take photos. Do not leave it up to your successors to parse what came from Pottery Barn and what has real value and meaning.
