Piles filled with damaged couches, refrigerators, stuffed animals, family heirlooms, and more are forming all around neighborhoods impacted by the recent flooding. “I feel blessed by how many people are willing to help us out," remarked a recipient as our team handed them relief supplies. Items such as gloves, masks, and eye protection are essential as people begin the difficult process of removing furniture and mold from their homes. Thank you to our partner, Cintas, for helping us provide this added safety and care 💙 Visit https://lnkd.in/gi-AwEKn for more info on our team's location and services and how to help.

After flying into a patio door in Erie, this American Goldfinch was stunned and unable to fly. Fortunately, it was found by a resident and made its way into Greenwood. Our intake team found several injuries, including swelling in the shoulder, blood in the mouth, and possible spinal injury. After a regiment of pain management, antibiotics, rest, and nutrition, this brightly-colored bird is on the mend. Window strikes are a common intake reason throughout the year, but more so during the warmer months when birds are migrating, looking for mates, and foraging for food. Glass windows and doors can reflect the trees, sky, and even other animals, causing birds to fly into them. Preventing window collisions is easy and inexpensive. Here are just a few tips to help birds: Keep curtains and blinds closed to break up the reflections. Apply UV reflective decals or strips to the outside of glass. Avoid feeders that attach to the outside of a window. Call a local, licensed rehabilitator for advice if you find a window-strike victim. Find one near you at AHnow.org. #GreenwoodWildlife #Prevent #WindowStrike

Climate change causing California wildfires? From the California State Fire Marshall: "95% of the wildfires in our jurisdiction are caused by people. That ranges from accidental to negligence to arson, and everything in between." on a question I posed to him and answered. No climate agenda is going to stop this. If, however, the insurance and building construction industry wants to solve this issue, spend the money on using building materials like MgO that are noncombustible rather than combustible wood products in fire regions. MgO also sequesters carbon as a matter of its chemistry while in use, wood does not. Wood only stores the carbon, and its former tree no longer sequesters carbon dioxide, and any replacement seedlings will take many decades to equal the amount of CO2 sequestered by that now felled tree that produced the wood that built these structures thus the rise in CO2 atmospheric concentrations. As the world population continues to increase, this will only get worse unless other approaches and materials to building structures are looked at rather than using only wood products. Look for our US MgO mega factories coming soon. Mike Cregan Robert (RY) Scarborough (LION 3K) David Salem Klaus Meyer Mustaafa Ali

Wildfire smoke can travel hundreds of miles and make its way into your home. Not only is the odor strong, but smoke particles can hurt your lungs, settle like dust, and get trapped in fabric. Closing windows and doors is your first line of defense. To remove any smoke that does sneak into your home, air filters are the most reliable and efficient option 💡 Your AC circulates air through your entire home and can clear out smoke much faster than a single air sanitizer! #wildfireseason #wildfires #wildfire #fireseason
