As a product engineer, I think building a 0->1 product can be simplified in 4 steps: 👉 Step 1: Understand What People Need First, think about what people really want and need. What problems do they have? What would make their lives better? It's like designing a dream product for them. 👉 Step 2: Make Sure Your Product Fits the Market Next, you build a simple version of your product to see if it's what people want. Don't try to make it perfect at this point, just make it work for a small group of people who will love it. Think of them as your early fans. 👉 Step 3: Make Everything Work Together Once your product works well for those early fans, you need to make sure it fits nicely with everything else. It's like making sure all the pieces of a puzzle fit together perfectly. You want your product to be a part of a bigger picture. 👉 Step 4: Grow and Improve Finally, you can start sharing your product with more and more people. You can also make it even better based on what people like and what they need. Think of it like helping your product grow and become more helpful. Obviously, there are a lot of different market researches and frameworks applied as part of these steps. Let me know if I missed anything. The art of building a great product is knowing when to listen and knowing when to put your noise canceling headphones in, put your head down and do the work. It's knowing when to evolve, even if status quo is doing just fine. A few weeks back Danny Abdo, Frank Gartland and myself spent a day locked in a room doing just that. Skillable launched Challenge Labs (https://lnkd.in/gWcipw6H) about 8 years ago, and to this day have been used by over 2 million people. Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, it is time to evolve. It was an exciting exercise. When you combine what your customers like, what your future customers know and don't know they will need, and your own desire to build something new, better, more innovative and you can design something truly special. That's the art of product innovation and design. It's about reading the data, reading the room, and anticipating the future. It's about trusting your instincts as much as trusting your feedback channels. It's about asking your customers what they need, as much as understanding what they WILL need, and being willing to take a risk or two. It's about understanding where the industry is, but not being afraid to lead it somewhere new. It's my favorite thing to do. It's fun. It's rewarding. These two guys are not bad either.....

This was my first attempt at this graduation project. The problem was that, as a product manager on the Growth team of Blinkit, the team has been given a mandate to focus on increasing the average order value in order to bring in better unit economics (delivering orders with a lower value leads to unprofitable unit economics). Need to propose a product solution, assuming I have infinite tech bandwidth. The expectation is to solve this problem as a PM by addressing solutions for the users while being able to generate business value. I have tried to focus on understanding the current state of the product, relevant secondary research, and competition research to better understand the current situation, actors, constraints, business and product outcomes, target user segments, and the target users’ unmet needs. Tried to go deeper to understand why the average order value is currently on the lower side. Tried to validate the problem with user research, structured analysis of the problem, and breaking down the problem into smaller components. Showcase the possible solutions, wireframes, system diagrams, and metrics, and also share the risks and mitigation. Unfortunately, couldn't secure the top fellow position, so from my LinkedIn connection, if anybody wants to address any drawbacks they can find in my deck, that would be very helpful.
