And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a #commercial that meets just about all criteria for #smart #storytelling and imaginative #brand positioning. As David Meerman Scott would likely have put it, it also uses #NewsJacking as an effective technique for linking #brandvalues to a much bigger story - through direct affiliation with a much bigger topic (this time around #AI). One of the most intuitive (albeit potentially risky) ways of doing it is to take a clear stance on a timely, controversial topic. This way, the brand’s key #values benefit from what I would describe as a massive boost in socially-responsible brand credibility. In doing so, it also taps into some of the most common fears and misconceptions surrounding the current #ArtificialIntelligence conversation…just like in Apple’s iconic 1984 commercial. Dove 👏👏👏
