Kari Trøan Sundt has been a board member of IMA Norway - International Management Assistants for almost 12 months. She shares her reasons for joining the board and what she has learnt so far. Board experience: 🌟 I have always wanted board experience, and when getting the opportunity to join the board of IMA Norway, it felt like the perfect place to start. I was given full trust from day one, even though I had no prior board experience. I have challenged myself while receiving plenty of support and guidance from those with more experience. Serving on the board has provided me with valuable experience that I can carry forward into my professional life. The opportunity to influence: 📈 Already at my first meeting with IMA Norway, I realized that this was an organization I wanted to engage with. So how could I engage in the best possible way while also gaining the opportunity to influence the path forward? I had my first meeting with IMA in February 2023, and 3 months later, I became IMA Norway's MarCom Officer. Working closely with other dedicated members to further develop the organization has been incredibly educational and exciting - and, not least, amazingly fun! Networking: 🤝 Being on the board has provided me with a "natural" entry point to get to know all the members better and expand my network. I've always found it a bit intimidating to mingle with unfamiliar people, so having a role that automatically involves a lot of contact with other members has helped me a lot. Having a role like this makes me more confident when interacting with others, which has led to a larger, and very valuable, network. #imaisyournetwork #IMANorway #IMAStepUp

August is traditionally a tough month for recruitment consultancies due to the school holidays, which cause a drop in hiring engagement/activity. Despite the 'lull' we experienced, the team didn't enter 'BD panic mode' & randomly call thousands of contacts, send mailshots to thousands of hiring managers with speculative CV's. Instead, we focused on using the 'down period' to deliver value to our clients. This included... - Hiring Health checks (DE&I awareness, Pre-boarding review, salary bench marking specific skillsets) - Connecting candidates we had no live jobs for to scale ups we knew were hiring directly - Connecting the community (Knowledge sharing similar challenges faced by talent leads in the Start-Up/Scale-Up space) The result? - Soft launch of 'The Product Circle' - a quarterly meet up for Product Leaders of UK based Start-Ups & Scale-Ups - Launch of our podcast...
