A race under Ducati’s banner, in every sense. Contrasting emotions after having dominated the whole weekend.  Over everything looms the bitter delusion of Pecco’s unfortunate slide: a fall that was the last thing needed. Bagnaia was optimally managing the direct challenge with Martin, after having struggled more than expected in the Sprint race. Unfortunately, a little indecision was enough for his race to end up in the gravel, thus losing several, precious world championship points.  Jorge, despite dehydration and a rear tire that was less than a perfect choice, fought to the end like a lion, finally conquering a second place that is worth as much as a victory, in this way continuing his powerful comeback in the standings.  Bezzecchi was simply amazing. With a pace that was absolutely prohibitive for anyone, absolutely dominating a race without any fuss at all. He had more to give than anyone else throughout the weekend, and he demonstrated it on Sunday with a superb performance. He was perfectly at ease on both the bike and this track and with his will to win, his obstinacy and a conduct worthy of an experienced veteran, he once again proved most impressive. Chapeau! Let’s celebrate our riders who brought Ducati its tenth win in the season, number 22 in the 33 GPs raced so far between 2022 and 2023. It was a great pleasure to open another Ducati racing season in Madonna di Campiglio, a location that perfectly expresses the values of 'Made in Italy' of which we are proud ambassadors. The path that has led us to be the best in the world in racing is undoubtedly made up of the hard daily work of these years, but also of our ability to work as a team and have fun while putting our maximum effort into what we do. One of the strong elements of our brand is the ability to create a system and we demonstrate this by jointly presenting the official teams for the 2024 racing season, the Ducati Lenovo Team, the Aruba.it – Racing Ducati Team, and unveiling of the new Desmo450 MX, the motorcycle that opens a new historical chapter for us in the motocross world. Seeing all the bikes together was a great emotion for me because, although different from each other, they are part of a single project. This belonging is underlined by the basic colour of the liveries, Ducati Red, the same for all, and also by a completely new graphic sign that recalls the curve present in the Ducati logo, inspired by the most exciting part of riding a motorbike: the bend. At the same time, these bikes are also an expression of the path that Ducati has taken in recent years, investing in its future. The entry into motocross is in fact the demonstration of the company's solidity and determination to continue investing in expanding the range offered to our enthusiasts. In these two days we had the opportunity to give ourselves the right energy for a year that promises to be full of challenges. AND SO... LET THE NUMBERS DO THE TALKING Strong emotions and immense joy for a season’s finale that unites us all under the great Ducati banner. A banner that enfolds everyone's dreams and ambitions, marked by one’s own work as well as personal history. And then there are the numbers, not just a cold data string, but numbers that translate our emotions, numbers that speak of facts, commitment and enthusiasm, numbers that are the common denominator writing the pages of our sport. Numbers we are proud of. Of the 3 rider titles in our MotoGP history, this is the 2nd back-to-back title and, moreover, with the same rider. Consecutive is also the 4th Constructors’ title, of the 5 attained, won with 700 points, almost doubling up on the second in the standings. Of the total 87 wins in top class, 17 were scored this year alone: an absolute record. And just as many were the 2023 Pole Positions scored. Another decidedly significant fact is that we have 6 different Ducati riders that have won a GP at least once in the championship season that has just ended: also this has never previously been achieved. We have also established the new record of seasonal podiums, 43, monopolising the full leader board on no less than 8 occasions! 46 are the consecutive races in which at least one of our riders placed in the Top 3, while 60, always consecutively, saw at least one of our bikes start from the grid’s front line! Ducati can't have #1 on a satellite MotoGP bike next year https://lnkd.in/dsisAz3d With three rounds of the 2023 MotoGP world championship remaining, there’s a very real possibility that Pramac Ducati rider Jorge Martin will steal the title away from factory counterpart Pecco Bagnaia and run the number one plate on his satellite machine next year - an awkward situation that the Italian factory simply cannot afford to allow to happen. Right now, with three rounds and 111 points remaining on the table this year, Martin trails Bagnaia by only 13 points - a gap that his impressive momentum of late (especially in sprint races) has a very real possibility of turning around come the season finale at Valencia in only three weeks’ time. Should that happen, though, it will leave Ducati in a whole world of pain come next season, as it will need to manage not only the commercial realities of having a satellite world champion but also the egos of its riders - an issue which, realistically, might force its hands in making a big change for next season whether Martin wins or loses. There’s a lot that comes with winning a title beyond just lifting the trophy at the final round and being forced to do more media appearances in the week that follows. Walk into any Ducati dealership anywhere in the world right now, for example, and you’re guaranteed to find a photograph or poster of current world champion Bagnaia, as Ducati both uses its title success to sell bikes and to maximise the return on investment from its sponsors. It doesn’t just become far more difficult to do that should the champion not be fully under the control of factory press officers and marketers - it’s also a bad look for major multinational sponsors like oil giant Shell or technology company Lenovo if the world champion isn’t on the bike they pay millions to sponsor but instead is hanging out in the pit box next door.

It is almost time to present the 2024 Ducati official racing teams, but I still want to dedicate a well-deserved appreciation moment to the 2023 Panigale World Championship Replica! These amazing objects celebrate the racing successes of last season and will be produced in a limited and numbered series. The more I look at them, the more I'm reminded of the emotions I've felt race after race following each competition, from home or in the box. Each is an authentic collector’s item dedicated to our most passionate clients. They are full of exclusive details: model name, progressive number and rider number are laser-engraved on the aluminium steering plate of the bikes, while on the saddle is sewed the personal logo of each champion. But the most important feature is that each one of them will be different, like real art pieces, because of the one-to-one handmade signature done by our champions. The quantities in which the bikes will be produced are different for each of them because they celebrate the racing numbers of the riders to whom they are dedicated. This means that Pecco and Álvaro will face the 'signature marathon' on 263 and 219 units respectively, Jorge on 189, Nicolò on 111 and Bez on 72. All technical solutions and components of the motorcycles have been chosen to recreate the excitement of racing on the track, aiming at transforming each Replica into the closest thing ever to the original racing bikes that a passionate Ducatista could collect. Mapping 8 has been the notorious message used by Ducati to enforce team orders. Fabio di Giannantonio got this message on Sunday. He explained how this time it was just normal strategy “Many thought it was a sign to hold back, but let me set the record straight. ‘Mapping 8’ was not about Ducati Motor Holding telling me not to overtake the title contender. It was to make you confused!” "We had a strict plan for the race: ‘Start strong, maintain a specific position in the early laps, then manage the tyres mid-race." "Then came the crucial part - the signal. ‘When you see this [Mapping 8] message, you need to go’. It had nothing to do with holding back against Pecco." “So there I was, behind Bagnaia, and to be honest, I missed the pit board for much of the race. I was unaware of the remaining laps. But upon seeing ‘Mapping 8’, I knew it was my cue. ‘Now is the moment to go’. I pushed hard and made my move." It's clear now – ‘Mapping 8’ was merely a coincidence, not a directive. Aero war intensifying? Our Ducati MotoGP launch takeaways https://lnkd.in/e_uCerYR With Ducati Corse’s notoriously secretive boss Gigi Dall’Igna unlikely to give away too many engineering secrets ahead of the start of 2024 MotoGP pre-season testing, and no changes to the rider line-up or main sponsors, Ducati’s launch event at Italian ski resort Madonna di Campiglio wasn’t expected to produce many earth-shattering revelations. But there were still things to be gleaned after reigning world champion Pecco Bagnaia and his team-mate Enea Bastianini pulled the covers off a machine that at least has changed a little bit visually from last year and - surprise, surprise - features even more red paint than before. Perhaps the most exciting news of the whole launch came in almost a throwaway line from Dall’Igna. He casually mentioned that the bike that actually hits the track at Sepang next month will feature “fairings extremely different to those we’ve used before”. And that means that there’s likely a serious escalation in MotoGP’s aerodynamics war in the pipeline. It’s an area that was basically invented by Dall’Igna’s team and which has since been consistently driven forward by Ducati not just through wings on the front of the bike but with new innovations like rear seat unit aero devices and ground effect fairings. But we’ve not seen any huge aero leap forward from Ducati in a few years, with the other European manufacturers Aprilia and KTM quick to catch up. That could change for 2024, if the veteran engineer’s words are to be taken at face value. The upgrade certainly wasn’t on show at the launch, with the bike on show a 2023 model (at least aerodynamically) in what was clearly a deliberate decision to ensure rivals have as little time as possible to study and copy whatever Ducati has in mind.

Special liveries: the Fiat Yamaha Team MototGP team (a fan-centric approach...17 years ago) I still remember when I saw the preview... Special liveries are quite normal now, especially in F1. But in MotoGP...these ones were a true sensation. I was there, a client was sponsoring the Fiat Yamaha MotoGP team. Valentino Rossi and Colin Edward, and then Jorge Lorenzo, were the riders. The top of the career for Valentino. Fiat was an incredibly creative sponsor and all other partners benefited from their marketing and communication activities. I remember being in the hospitality with them and their bloggers talking about web 2.0 "What do you do as a blogger? How can you help brands?" These were my questions at the time... It was all new...the beginning of Facebook and social media. But the vision was clear. Being closer to fans and customers. Those special liveries were a way to celebrate Fiat' special launches: ・𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟳 The launch of the new Fiat 500: the Yamaha M1 of Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards entered the track with a special livery dedicated to the new car launched on 4 July in Turin. The relaunch of Abarth: at Philip Island, the bikes were customised with the scorpion and the red and white, representing the historic Abarth world. ・𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟴 The Azzurri Livery for Vale:  in celebration of the Italian National team and the European Football Championships The Lupin III for Jorge at Motegi. For the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi they featured the Gentleman Thief’ made famous in the Japanese Manga series created by Kazuhiko Kato. ・𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟵 The launch of the new Fiat Punto Evo: Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo raced in a special livery at the Portuguese Grand Prix. ・𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟬: The launch of Fiat 500 in the US market: at Laguna Seca the two bikes showed 500 photos sent by fans, while a selection of photos featured on the riders’ racing suits. -------- After more than 15 years they would be still actual. Ducati and Triumph unexpectedly took on the challenge of building a Motocross bike each, despite having no prior know-how, yet both managed to produce remarkably solid bikes capable of winning or competing at the top of their categories. Triumph made its debut in the World Championship, hovering around the podium with impressive speed and consistency in the MX2 class, where high-revving engines are crucial. Meanwhile, Ducati made its first appearance in the Italian championship, winning its inaugural race. Although the competition level wasn't the highest, considering the bike was born just six months prior, it's quite remarkable. Nowadays, motorcycle manufacturers are capable of achieving miracles, even though we're talking about industry giants. This is truly fascinating. Looking back, there are numerous examples of bikes that were unfortunate and ended up without any glory.
