She interviewed at 2.00 pm She received an offer for 190k at 2.40 pm It was more than she'd initially asked for. 20k more! The company called her recruiter straight after her interview. They didn't waste any time and wanted her onboard. No messing around and no playing games. The recruiter called her right away. She accepted the offer. When you know there is a good fit There is absolutely no need to waste time. This is what a good hiring process actually looks like. #jobseekers #jobinterviews #humanresources #hiringandpromotion

Lucy Gilmour I think it's reversed these days: #TrueStory HR: Hey SG, thanks for the chat earlier. Here’s the job description for you. Let me know if you have any questions. SG: Got it, thanks! (After several interview rounds) HR: Hi SG, we’re working on your CTC. We’ll get back to you soon. (Three days later) HR: Hey SG, here’s the CTC we can offer. It’s 20k less than what you asked for. SG: I was hoping for at least 20k more. HR: You’re lucky to get this in these recession times. SG: I have three other offers, and they’re 30k more than what you’re offering. HR: Oh, really? Let me check back with my team. I’ll get back to you in a couple of days. SG: Sure, take your time. (After a few days) HR: SG, we can only do 10k more, and that’s our final offer. Here’s why those other companies might be paying more… (insert sob story). SG: I’ll take my chances. HR: You know what, let me talk to my team one more time. Please don’t accept those other offers yet. I’ll see what I can do. SG: I’m still here (because I know I don’t have any other offers 🤣🤣🤣). (After 3 days) HR: Hey SG, good news! We can beat those other offers. Our management has decided to give you 50k more instead of 20k. SG: Great, send it over and I’ll sign it ASAP

Is that in disney land?

And then two weeks into the new job she realized that the process was so rushed (and she was so flattered that it moved so quickly) that she didn't have a chance to meet any of her peers, learn how toxic the leadership was, figure out that product quality was down the drain, and that the entire company was a miserable mess. That's what happens when a company rushes the process. No time for a candidate to do any due diligence. As flattering as it is to be "wanted", it's a red flag. The company didn't have time to check her references- and she didn't have time to check on THEM. Which is why this nice tale sounds like a fairy tale.

I’ve always aimed to provide prompt feedback to candidates, even if it’s only to say that I won’t be able to make a decision and/or offer for a couple of weeks and to tell them why. When I interviewed with Worldwide Clinical Trials, my Line Manager offered me the job during the interview. I like to think that she recognised a fit and went with it. Over 2 years in and I’m still really happy.

Thanks, Lucy. "She interviewed at 2.00 pm She received an offer for 190k at 2.40 pm It was more than she'd initially asked for. 20k more!"... and then she woke and remembered she'd been unemployed for 5 months with three interviews during that time, two of which which went nowhere, and one where she was just ghosted after the third round... 🙄

Yes, it is good. However, we don"t know a lot of details here. I mean, the employer could have interviewed beaucoup candidates and knew they saw a good one.
