$11.9B is a drop in the bucket compared to the total wealth hoarded by the wealthiest Americans under the guise of foundations and philanthropy. It’s likely some of their investments matured to amounts greater than their total giving. We need to raise the minimum required giving amount for foundations! #philanthropy #foundations #giving #publicpolicy #development #fundraising
Today we release our annual list, The Philanthropy 50, an exclusive Chronicle ranking of who gives the most to charity. Collectively, America’s 50 biggest donors gave a total of $11,938,957,643 to a broad array of causes last year. They supported nonprofits that explore the potential of artificial intelligence, seek cures for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, combat antisemitism, elevate women and girls, and much more. And while many of the donors are among the most prominent billionaires, a big share of those who gave large donations last year are quiet about their wealth and largess. Click through to view the full list, see what issues they gave to and where their wealth comes from, and also learn how boomer and Gen X mega-donors are driving trends in giving. https://bit.ly/3TxgVw5 #PHIL50 #philanthropy #topdonors

On this #GivingTuesday, I would love to remind you to donate to an organization with a mission you value, which will be a hard choice because there are so many worthy causes. I have a lengthy list of nonprofits that I love to support, but today I am going to focus on a new nonprofit in the OKC metro that has had a personal impact on my life this year. This picture is a prime example of why representation matters. My son, Beckham, utilizes a g-tube to receive his daily nutrition. It's not super common for us to see other kiddos like him unless we are surrounded by our medical family community. It's easy to connect with those individuals online, but not always in person. It takes quite a bit of effort to leave the safety of our home, especially in the midst of sick season (which is 24/7 for us it seems), but there is something so special about being in a room of people who get it. This is where Ultimate Shift comes in to help. Ultimate Shift coordinates events in our community to connect friends and family for fellowship and fun! We apply macro concepts that tend to happen once a year or once in a lifetime, to create more frequent micro community opportunities for individuals with disabilities and their families. We use simplistic creativity to help minimize isolation and open up a world of new experiences for friends and family who can thrive with a little extra support. If you are looking for an organization to support this Giving Tuesday, I would love for you to consider a gift in Beckham's honor to Ultimate Shift. You can donate at https://ultimateshift.org/.

Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and support their communities. It’s not just one day – this is a global social movement that’s working every day to fuel more generosity in service to building a more just and equitable world. On our annual day of celebration -happening on November 28, 2023 this year – the whole world comes together to give back in many different ways: through acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent or treasure. Nonprofits can leverage the energy of Giving Tuesday to tell their stories, engage lifelong advocates and build a movement for their organizations – and that’s way more powerful than just collecting donors. In this time of uncertainty, stress, and even despair, one thing that gives us hope is that this crisis is catalyzing innovation like we’ve never seen before. From the pandemic, we learned that we owe this not only to the sense of urgency but to our desire to share information, ideas, and collaborate, which has never been stronger. All around the world, we are joining forces and leaning on each other – and this generosity tells us that we will achieve the better, more just world that we all seek. If you have not already made a Colorado Gives Day donation to Ability Connection Colorado, today is a great day to do so. Visit our Colorado Gives Day donation page at: https://lnkd.in/gdvC8QKQ All donations made today (Giving Tuesday) count toward Colorado Gives Day incentives and prizes. As always, thank you for supporting the inclusive programs at Ability Connection Colorado! #GivingTuesday #ColoradoGivesDay #Inclusion #InclusionColorado #AbilityConnectionColorado

Senior Gift Officer, Foundation Giving at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Foundation
Some of the reasons philanthropy is on the decline in the U.S. (predicted to fall to single digit % households in 50 years): nonprofits avoiding risk, believing more is better, reinforcing transactional giving and failing to innovate... according to Nathan Chappell, MBA, MNA, CFRE of DonorSearch AI. Does your nonprofit have a philanthropic R&D budget?! Great insights from Woodmark Summit 2024 hosted by Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

This week, we celebrate 12 years of catalyzing change, and we would like to invite you to celebrate with us. In the last 12 years, we have helped to catalyze the maternal mental health field. In doing so, we have: 💡 Studied and identified the 30+ complex barriers to care and corresponding solutions -in our 2017/2019 white papers, policy recommendations, and webinars/Congressional briefings 💡Convened multi-sector change agents 16+ times - at the annual FORUM, through coalition meetings, and on Capitol Hill 💡Elevated countless pieces of game-changing research and best/promising practices - at the FORUM and through eNews 💡Introduced and passed 7 state and federal bills and funding requests - and helped state nonprofits do the same And we can do so much more with your support. We invite you to consider supporting our critical systems change work by making a $12 or more donation today. As foundation grants cover our overhead, your gift will go directly to our programs. Your donation will be matched 100% up to the first $5,000 (including new monthly recurring donations). Give now: https://lnkd.in/giakzcfV

A myth about trafficking is that it is only happening outside of the United States, but it is happening right here in Colorado too. With recent increase of awareness of the problem/resources available. to survivors, we have seen a rise in crisis calls from survivors and have heard the community ask how they can help. What if there was a day that, as Coloradans, we got to celebrate the impact of joining together and lifting up our local communities? ? Luckily for all of us, there is such a day, and it’s called Colorado Gives Day. No matter how much you give, the result is the same - we all get to celebrate the magnitude of the good we create together. For even $30 a month, you can make a difference in the life of a survivor recovering from sex trafficking. Right now, all monthly donations will have 3x the impact this month thanks to our generous matching donor matching all donations until the end of the year and the Colorado Gives Foundation matching all new recurring donations until the end of today!
