Alkane Resources Ltd (ASX:ALK, OTC:ALKEF) managing director Nic Earner joins Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to talk through the company’s latest quarterly and plans for the next. Alkane reported A$30.5 million in #goldsales from its #TomingleyGoldOperations in Central West New South Wales for the March quarter. The quarter saw a production of 10,861 ounces of #gold, which was below the forecast due to lower recovery rates from the Caloma Two ore, with site operating cash costs at A$1,953 per ounce and an All-In Sustaining Cost (AISC) of A$2,454 per ounce. Despite these challenges, the site generated operating cash flow of A$5.9 million, with 10,385 ounces sold at an average price of A$2,933 per ounce, while full year guidance remains the same. The auction, overseen by a US federal court in Delaware, aims to address over $20 billion in claims against Venezuela and its state-owned oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA. Other bidders include Canadian miner Gold Reserve Inc. The sale hearing is set for 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 15, and the acquisition process is expected to be lengthy. Vitol's spokesperson declined to comment. A successful bid would expand Vitol's refining and distribution network, adding to its existing investments in South Africa’s Engen Ltd., Italy’s Saras SpA, and BP Plc’s station network in Turkey. The company has benefited from the commodity trading industry's recent profitability surge, earning about $28 billion over the past two years. The sale has sparked controversy, with the Venezuelan opposition arguing it could aid President Nicolas Maduro in the upcoming election. Norway development news! Lime Petroleum AS acquires a 17% interest in the Brasse discovery from DNO ASA (10.7212%) and operator OKEA ASA (6.2788%). The 25 MMboe discovery is due to be tied back to the Brage hub, extending Brage's lifespan. A development plan is due to be submitted in Q1 2024 with first oil in early 2027. The JV will be OKEA, DNO, Lime Petroleum and M Vest Energy AS.   Brasse is key to delivering value for the recent entrants into OKEA-operated Brage. OKEA acquired Vår Energi 's 50% interest in December 2022 followed by M Vest's acquisition of 4.4424% from OKEA in August 2023. Petrolia Noco AS recent entry into Brage may be a precursor to entering Brasse to align the JV's of Brage and Brasse.

Magmatic Resources (ASX:MAG) Ltd managing director Adam McKinnon joins the Proactive studio after the junior explorer secured mining giant Fortescue Ltd (ASX:FMG) as a cornerstone investor. The Andrew Forrest-backed miner snapped up 76 million MAG shares at a 10% premium to net a near-20% interest in the precious and base metal player. In addition to the investment, a Fortescue subsidiary has committed $14 million over the next six years to earn a 75% stake in MAG’s Myall copper-gold project. With a mineral resource already boasting 293,000 tonnes of copper, 237,000 ounces of gold and 2.8 million ounces of silver, McKinnon says Myall has all the hallmarks of a tier-one deposit.
