As a first generation immigrant married to a second generation immigrant of colour, a mother of a bi-racial child and another child by two first generation immigrants, one of whom coming from a country on the precipice of voting in a far-right anti-immigrant government, I feel immeasurably lucky to be British today. To feel safe in a well-functioning democracy in the age of volatile democracies and worldwide hostility towards immigrants is a tremendous gift that I am deeply grateful for 🙏🏼❤. It feels very special to know that the policies being voted in the next four years won’t be aimed at disadvantaging underprivileged groups, women, minorities or immigrants. Whomever you voted for, thank you British voters. Thank you… 🙏🏼❤
Congratulations — not only for the lanslide victory of Labour, but also for the decency and respect of the now former Prime Minister in accepting the defeat of his party and his personal responsiblity. France has a lot to learn from the UK on real democracy.
I'm so happy this morning!!! Shall we vote for the best newspaper cover? I think 'Keir We Go' is very good haha
Thank you Luba for posting this. I think we can celebrate today but tomorrow the really hard work begins.
Time for electoral reform?

2wRishi Sunak's humble speech just now filled me with more pride for the humane and tolerant rhetoric accepting of difference it oozed, the kind of rhetoric we hear less and less often these days.
