Office of Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton’s Post

Today marks the number of days Black women would need to work into 2024 – on top of every day in 2023 – to earn the same that white, non-Hispanic men made in 2023 alone. That's because Black women still make 66 cents to every $1 paid to white men. We must acknowledge our history and use a lens of equity when addressing the #GenderPayGap, holding every industry accountable. We will keep fighting for what we deserve! #BlackWomensEqualPay

Madam: It is good to hear you speak on gender issues; calling it out in real-time; using the exact language of “white” “black” and “Hispanic” people. This is a comfort. Our world seems so stigmatized when we use exact descriptions of people. We make it plain my honorable sister.
