Sorry RIAs, "book a free consultation" isn't going to solve your organic growth problem. But here's what will: A diversified, well-balanced media portfolio that includes: ✓ Earned media (where all the hype is now) ✓ Owned media (where you're lacking) ✓ Paid media (where you're non-existent) A YouTube channel, where all you do is talk advice and theory, but make no offers, will not provide you with an organic growth engine for the long term. Nor will your podcasts, webinars, or LinkedIn presence. Not knocking these, they are great. But they will only provide you with a scalable, predictable, sustainable organic growth engine if you integrate them with amazing owned media and paid media. You need to look to business models that are SIMILAR to yours, that have figured this out already (there are plenty). Find a way that works for you and go with it! One of the greatest lessons that needs to be learned in business is there is a scaffolding or a structure to how to build a business but there is never a set in stone it has to be this or it’s a failure. Much like parenting, we are all figuring it out day by day and choice by choice. One of the best things you can do for YOUR business is be yourself and be authentic and original to you and attract other like minded people to be in your tribe. If you are anyone other than yourself you will attract people who you personally do not connect with and it will be harder to sell and resonate. As businesses we are here to help and the easiest way to do that is to find people that need the solution we provide. More than likely those are people like yourself. This is such a great reminder. The data is constantly in your face so it’s easy to forget about the art aspect of marketing, however you both aspects is what makes your marketing efforts effective and successful.
Marketing is equal parts art and science. You need to know the numbers. You need to know the creative. Too much on the numbers side? You miss the opportunity to build a brand. Marketing is not just click funnels. Too much on the creative side? You miss the opportunity to build repeatable systems. Marketing is not just "flashy ideas." That's why it's so important to surround yourself with other types of marketers, creatives, and stakeholders outside the GTM org. The best marketers I work with are always learning. P.S.
