Yesterday I wrapped up my course on "Geotechnical Baseline Reports for Geotechnical Risk Allocation - Contracts for Underground Construction," as part of the Master Tech in Tunnelling at MIT World Peace University, Pune, India.
The enthusiasm and engagement from the alumni were truly refreshing! We delved into the core principles of tunnelling, emphasizing the crucial elements necessary for grasping the primary factors affecting geotechnical risks. The course focused on the critical role of risk management in tunnelling and provided insights into the diverse construction contract forms prevalent in the sector, along with an exploration of geotechnical risk allocation applications for tunnels. Participants received a thorough overview of both conventional Geotechnical Baseline Report (GBR) models, like those recommended by the ASCE, and the GBR model featured in the FIDIC Emerald Book.
A sincere thank you to Prof. Dr. Sandeep Potnis, the dedicated team at MIT World Peace University, and the organizing committee for their warm invitation and for allowing me the privilege to conduct these sessions.
I am eager for more such collaborative endeavours and to continue disseminating knowledge to the upcoming cohort of tunnelling specialists!
