It is disheartening to see efforts that aim to uplift Black-owned businesses and promote Black prosperity facing legal challenges. In our ongoing struggle for equality, we must recognize the importance of addressing historical disparities and providing opportunities for marginalized communities. The Fearless Fund, affirmative action and similar initiatives are trying to rectify these imbalances and create pathways to economic empowerment. We should encourage and support such efforts that strive to build a more just and equitable society for all. Join Black Innovation Alliance as we continue on this #BIAClapback journey which is our movement to build collective power against racial aggression towards black economic opportunity. Visit https://lnkd.in/gktWSYH4 to sign the pledge and stand up for Black innovation and entrepreneurship worldwide. Each week, Black Innovation Alliance will share real talk, real data, and real inspiration about the current state of affairs. #blackbusiness

Honoring Juneteenth: A Continued Commitment to Justice ✊🏾 This #Juneteenth, we remember and celebrate the bravery and resilience of those who fought to abolish slavery. However, the struggle continues... Today, as we celebrate Juneteenth, we renew our commitment to justice and equality. We must continue to work together to dismantle structures of oppression and ensure that none of us are free until ALL of us are free. 📣 What steps can you take today to promote justice and equality? #JusticeForAll #BlackHistory #CivilRights #EmancipationDay #EqualityForAll #RacialJustice #Inclusion #Diversity #BlackLivesMatter #SocialJustice #FreedomForAll
This #Juneteenth, we honor those who fought to abolish slavery and continue our fight for freedom while celebrating the Black community’s rich and diverse history. Juneteenth marks when enslaved Black Americans in Texas were notified of their freedom in 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. Today, systemic racism, targeted misinformation, and racial injustice continue to challenge true Black liberation. So, on Juneteenth, as our collective works to fight for justice, let’s recommit to our fight for Black freedom. We’re not free until we’re ALL free.

On Juneteenth, we celebrate and reflect on the message and promise of freedom – a message that arrived in Galveston, TX nearly two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation and a promise that is still being realized. Black economic prosperity and full access to the American Dream are key to the promise of freedom. BEA is committed to advancing Black work, wages, and wealth. By aligning efforts across business, policy, and social sectors we can reshape systems that have operated to exclude Black economic opportunity and bring us closer to achieving the full promise of freedom. Together we can create an America where freedom is not a message-delayed and economic opportunity and prosperity are available to all.

As we commemorate Black History Month, I want to reflect on the rich heritage of Black history in America and ongoing work towards racial justice. This is a time to celebrate the immense contributions of Black communities while also recognizing the need for continued progress. In that spirit, I'm sharing three book recommendations that have deeply impacted my understanding of racism in society today and how we can all be part of building a more just future: How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi - This transformative book helps readers recognize and uproot racist ideas from their own belief systems. Kendi offers an empowering framework and actionable steps we can all take to confront racism at personal and systemic levels. The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander - A must-read that sheds light on how mass incarceration has perpetuated racial caste systems and injustice in America. Alexander exposes biases embedded in our criminal justice system and charts a path forward. Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates - A raw, intensely personal letter from Coates to his teenage son on coming of age as a Black man in America today. These vivid reflections on the Black body and experience in our country left a profound mark on how I view racism. My learning journey is ongoing, but works like these have expanded my historical perspective, heightened my self-awareness, and equipped me to be an active ally in the antiracist movement. I encourage you all to pick up one of these titles or another book elevating Black stories and social analysis. Keep listening, reflecting and speaking out against racism. Wishing you a thoughtful Black History Month as we carry forward the work of justice, equity and inclusion. What other books or resources have you found meaningful? Please share in the comments. #blackhistorymonth #blacklivesmatter

Join us in reflecting on the State of Black America. This event brings together persuasive voices to discuss the historical and contemporary factors impacting the lives of Black people. It's an opportunity for leaders of corporations, educational institutions, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) members to actively listen to sentiments that Black employees feel but may not express. Parents, clergy, neighbors, law enforcement officers, and teachers are also encouraged to take part in this conversation to gain insight into the thoughts of others and reflect on their own. This conversation is honest, sometimes raw, and always needed but rarely engaged in a mixed audience. Let's take advantage of this opportunity to listen and learn. #BlackLivesMatter #DiversityandInclusion #ERGs #CommunityReflection #blackhistorymonth #generations #civilrights #humanityfirst #meaningfulwork #blackculture #churchleadership Join us: https://lnkd.in/eDNnPs9m

During Black History Month, Alice Walker's quote takes on added significance as it reflects the historical and ongoing struggle for empowerment within the Black community. Throughout history, Black individuals and communities have faced systemic oppression, discrimination, and disenfranchisement. Despite these challenges, countless individuals have demonstrated remarkable resilience and strength in asserting their rights and fighting for equality. Alice Walker's quote reminds us of the importance of reframing narratives to center empowerment and agency. By acknowledging and celebrating the power within the Black community, we can inspire hope, resilience, and collective action towards a more just and equitable society. #BlackHistoryMonth is not only a time for reflection and celebration but also a call to action. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for racial justice and the need to address systemic inequities that persist today. By amplifying voices, advocating for change, and supporting efforts towards equality, we can honor the legacy of past struggles and work towards a more inclusive future. #BlackHistory
