NERD-ALERT! But I feel like I need to share. I was recently attending a course, where I heard about this project, where Peter Gabriel was coming out with a new album - but for the first time, he chose to have 2 different mixing engineers mix the same album.
So the same album - but two different interpretations of the music. And those two mixers happen to be my two favorites - Tchad Blake and Spike Stent. These guys are legends in the music business and my favorite albums' creators. So IF you are a music/sound nerd like me, and are interested in this topic, you should head over to Spotify, and hear what the first "double mixed" album means for the sound.
Attention: For some of you it might not be that noticeable, but for me it's huge. As I said - I haven't seen this published anywhere, (while I'm sure it is) but I felt it was my duty to put it out there. And honestly - I'm not really that into Peter Gabriel's new music here - but it IS interesting to hear the interpretations.
If you're not an experienced audiophile - you can start by noticing how different emotions comes out of the different versions. Tchad is more "rough" in his style. His drums are boomy and loud. Whereas Spike is much more open in his style - makes everything float.
Anyway - enough talk.
Spike Stents mixes of the album are called "Bright-Side Mix"
Tchad Blakes mixes are called "Dark-Side Mix"
