Several major investments by #selfdrivingvehicle companies point to the coming reality of #autonomousdelivery #truck fleets as Kodiak unveiled its first East Coast truckport in August and Volvo Autonomous Solutions established an office for activities in #Texas #freight corridors. This comes after the late 2021 development that Daimler Truck AG is developing a Level 4 #autonomoustruck platform including key redundancy systems for safety such as self-monitoring of the braking system, steering system, low-voltage power net and network communications.

Following last week's Volkswagen Group+XPENG and AUDI AG+Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group) announcements, Toyota Motor Corporation is next to jump on the Chinese OEM R&D bandwagon. Toyota has announced that engineers from its JVs with BYD, China FAW Group and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. will also participate in new Toyota-led R&D projects. R&D to cover areas like EVs, smart cockpits, and autonomous technologies specific for China market. Surprising that so many entrepreneurs are still hesitant to go to China while the heavies are diving right into joint collaboration. Hopefully this is the start of changing tides...
