Brace for the long, emotional post 😅 3.5 years ago, I was working in a job that was teaching me a lot, but was also showing me that I really missed public accounting - the people, the work, but certainly not the hours. Plus I was commuting in 45 minutes each day to do work that barely had me leaving my computer and desk for most parts of the year. I remember having my interviews with Will and Luella and walking away saying "They're doing what I've always believed accountants can do! This is a company that is doing the work I love but not sacrificing their life to do it." and 3.5 years later, I still believe that. FPC is doing amazing work for amazing clients all while growing and building a team that cares just as much about what my crazy kids wore for Halloween last year as how many hours I billed that month. In that time, I've seen my clients launch new projects, raise more money in Series A rounds than I could sometimes fathom, work hard every day to get things off the ground. I've seen my clients fail and hurt with them, then seen those same people move on to the next dream and been awed by their resilience. I've also picked my kids up from school more days than not. I've surprised them with trips to the park after school. I've taken 10 day road trips and traveled for the holidays and have mastered the WIFI hotspot and lap desk working in my car while my family heads to the next adventure. I've gotten to watch my clients change the world at the same time I've changed my kids' world just by being there. 2.5 years ago, I remember sitting outside on my deck when Luella came and asked me to join the leadership team as she took at step back. I remember the confidence she had in me and the rest of that group and how it was that confidence that helped me believe I could do something I hadn't even been dreaming about a year before - and we did it! I am so proud of our Exec team and everything we've done since then. Choosing to not be part of the new ownership team last year was one of the hardest decisions I've made - for a multitude of personal reasons, none of them being that I don't think Fine Point is going to continue to do amazing things in the future! I'm so excited that FPC is staying in the hands of the employees who love it most and are so dedicated to preserving FPC's culture and priorities as they continue to grow. These past few weeks, I let my FPC family and many clients know I've decided to leave Fine Point and my last day will be January 20th. You all haven't made it easy with the kind feedback and love I've received. I'm so very excited for my next move - more to come later! - but it's gut wrenching to say goodbye. Which is where this (exceedingly long) post comes in. I couldn't leave without saying a public thanks to every single person I've worked with at FPC, be it coworker or client. It's not exaggeration to say that this job changed my career and also in a lot of ways, my life, and the mom and leader I'm proud to be.
