The AI music generators Suno and Udio are currently facing two lawsuits: A group of major labels (Recording Industry Association of America® (RIAA)), including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment, are filing suits in Boston and New York. The labels are accusing the AI companies of using training data without permission. In contrast, Suno CEO Mikey Schulman argues that the model produces new, original work. In most tools, it is not possible to incorporate existing artists into the prompt. However, some videos have already gone viral that strongly resemble successful artists and sound like Drake or ABBA.
