Did anyone else see these sweet friends share a moment to gather themselves [and jzsh each other] before hitting the red carpet at the Grammy's? ICYMI, the two friends got caught in the rain on their way to the venue. Taylor patted Lana's wet dress with her black opera gloves, saying, "That’s why I got gloves... This is fixable. This is fine.” They took a breath, checked each other's teeth for rogue lipstick, and hit the carpet together, despite being nominated for the same award! Spoiler alert - Taylor took home the award but not without bringing her friend, Lana, up on stage with her and shining a light on her talents as well. Wow! Talk about gaining some confidence capital! This entire scenario is a perfect example of what we mean when we say the BEST way to GAIN confidence is by GIVING it away. [If you haven't already figured this out - THIS is the hill we will die on. 💀] Looking to build up your confidence toolkit but don't know where to start? Making B2B brands creative, memorable and profitable - in that order. Creative Director & Partner at fst
Being 'Innovative' is like being 'Cool' - it's not something you get to decide. A brand is what it's proven to be overtime. If perception doesn't match reality it's a brand problem. If reality doesn't match perception it's a product problem. #b2bmarketing #creativemarketing #thisisfst
As well as the usual Coachella headlines of surprise guest appearances and celebrity attendees, something else dominated the news - Grimes’ Saturday evening set that was plagued with “major technical difficulties”. Normally, a technical glitch would spell disaster, but Grimes' gets away with it, why? Because she has become so well known for her experimental music and production that her mistakes are forgiven as a showcase of innovation. Being innovative is a bit like being ‘cool’ or ‘funny’ if you claim you are, then you probably aren't - your customers decide that, not you. And they build that perception on action not words. #brandinnovation #creativity #thisisfst

⚡ Attn: #eventprofs ⚡ In 1952, Woodstock, NY witnessed an event that would echo in the chambers of musical history forever.... ⬇️ Pianist David Tudor, poised before a piano, allowed silence to fill a room for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. This wasn’t a forgotten sheet of music or a lapse in memory; it was a deliberate performance of John Cage’s "4'33".” At first glance, a silent performance seems absurd. But look closer, and the genius behind it emerges. The piece reminds us that sometimes, it’s not about the noise we create, but the silence we leave behind. It’s about how the absence of something can be as powerful as its presence. Now, how does this apply to the world of #eventplanning, a realm dominated by sights, sounds, and experiences? ✅ Negative Space Matters: Just as a silent performance emphasizes ambient sounds, a well-planned event leaves room for spontaneity and organic interactions. ✅ Challenge Expectations: Tudor’s performance shattered the conventions of a musical recital. Don’t be afraid to surprise your attendees and offer them something they've never seen or felt before. ✅ Details are Crucial: The ambient sounds during the performance of "4'33"” were not accidents. Likewise, in event planning, every choice – from lighting to the arrangement of furniture – contributes to the overall experience. It's the details that transform an event from mundane to magical. ✅ Embrace Boldness: Taking risks can lead to unparalleled rewards. Similarly, if you want your event to be memorable, you have to be bold. Sometimes, that might mean doing less rather than more. ✅ Listen: The most significant lesson from Tudor’s performance is to listen – to the sounds, the silences, the murmurs of the crowd. Event planners should always be in tune with their audience, responding to their needs, their reactions, and their feedback. In a world saturated with stimuli, the choice of silence made by David Tudor remains an invaluable lesson. For #eventplanners, it's a beacon, reminding us that what we choose to omit is just as important as what we include. The balance of visuals, sound, and silence can create a masterpiece, even if it looks or sounds a bit different than what we expected. So, the next time you're orchestrating an event, remember the power of silence. Sometimes, the most profound statements are made when nothing is said at all. If this post resonates with you, please show some 🫶 with a 👍 or ❤️ and follow me for more #eventindustry goodness. 😁

I came across this video, which ages me, but I’m so fond of this era of music, art, culture in general. How one of the greatest bands of all time created music that indelibly, visualy and sonicly defined a time (my teenage daughter now proudly dresses kinda like this time but has no idea of the music funnily enough) came to be is incredible in every way. It’s a combination of randomness, mutual interests, clubby scenes. But mostly it’s about networks: joining creatives of other sociable hubs with others, all helping to connect each other and each other with the levers of power and influence in order to succeed. It’s about creative people living what they do and believing in what they make so much that they would live like nothing else mattered in pursuit of that seemingly ungraspable greatness that always eludes. It’s romantic I know. But I feel we’re due for another time like this, especially in what I do—the commercial arts. Forget the debates of how we work. Remember that everything great comes from connection and communication, sharing and putting creativity ahead of yourself for the greater interest that you are serving. We can do awesome things in any way we want if we all desire the same thing for the right reasons.#creativity Huge #connected

I have such a wide taste in music. Like seriously, if we've never talked music, we should. This live performance by Black Sabbath from 1970 is so amazing. Thanks to Greg Dohler for bringing it up in conversation over lunch today. Greg's a great photographer and friend, and it was great to commiserate about this awesome performance. What does this have to do with business? Black Sabbath was panned by the critics of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Rolling Stone said they were "Like Cream! But worse." But watch this film, and you'll see that from a performance point of view, they're amazing. They were operating on a different level and totally misunderstood by the prevailing opinions. Isn't that our dream as business owners? To press beyond, to be on the cutting edge of our industry? To innovate and grow? Final thought: if my dream as a business owner had a soundtrack, I'd definitely want Bill Ward playing the drums. Good gravy!

A Renaissance Businessman combining business with creativity, ingenuity, and innovation, while also serving as an advocate for education and social impact.
So, to my critics: You a'int seen nothing yet! There's more to the story. 😎 ...After "he's just a singer," strategically leveraged cross-promotion as a musical artist—his high-caliber events would garner the attention of thousands and thousands of people who traveled from near and far, including New Jersey (from the North to the South from Newark, Scotch Plains, Short Hills, Livingston and beyond), Maryland, New York City, Delaware, the Poconos, and beyond. (I trained my staff to gather not only their contact information, but to also inquire where people were traveling from because part of my business model was to create a "destination experience"). In business, that's called #DestinationMarketing. My Sunday Brunch events would go on to win recognitions and awards and often had to turn people away, in business that's called #SupplyAndDemand. As unconventional and unrelated as it may seem,…there just may be something to be learned about business from "just a singer.” To learn more, subscribe to my blog at: www.JustinGoldsberry.com #BusinessInsights #SongsToStrategy #BusinessStrategy #BrandBuilding #MarketingStrategy #BusinessTips
