CASE STUDY: In one weekend Nothing Naughty generated $1846 for KidsCan 👏 All while increasing the awareness of their social impact AND incentivising customers to add more to their orders. Smart cookies (or smart protein bars might be more appropriate). How? They used Black Friday for good - running a promotion to increase the awareness of their GoGenerosity partnership and generate more pay-it-forward donations. For every order they received over that period, they donated $1 to KidsCan (via us). They also gave customers 2 extra protein bars in their order which does 3 handy things for their brand: 1. Gives customers a chance to try (and love) new flavours so they are inclined to add them next time they purchase. 2. Makes customers feel appreciated - surprise and delight when they open their delivery and have 2 extras. 3. Gives customers a way to be involved in making a difference, without any work on their part. We love it. Really impressed by how on brand this partnership between retailer, brand, and influencer this activation is and how organic it seems (if you've ever watched any of Mr Beast's Content you know what I mean). Typically brands activate in retailers with POS, including cardboard cut outs of Influencers or shippers, or with your run of the mill demo. This is unique and different, I also love the philanthropic tie in, which is also on brand for Mr.Beast, which makes it genuine. The creator brand space is changing the game and there are so many ways to curate unique activations, while also maintaining an organic/authentic voice in your messaging (if you allow the creator to guide the activation/campaign of course), even in retail!

That request to round up your bill at the checkout counter for charity is one of the simplest ways to help nonprofits. But consumers are showing signs of fatigue as these tiny appeals for goodwill multiply. Shoppers aren’t worried about spending a dollar on worthy causes like PetSmart Charities’ efforts to help shelter animals find homes or Costco Wholesale’s campaigns to help sick kids. They’re tired of chain restaurants and retailers asking for money, especially as a broader array of businesses are also asking customers to tip their employees. Consumers also complain that they sometimes end up donating more than expected, and that their donations earn tax benefits for companies. So I like event planning and fundraising and working with what ya got. So organizations and groups this year for your yearly clothing donation do a "Too Lazy to Return Clothes," Clothing Drive. Almost everyone shops online now because brick and mortars are gone. looking at you- the Maternity Clothing Industry 👀. But how many of us have ordered clothing from an online retailer and it was far too small or far too big? You meant to return it.... then life, next season of the year, new clothing size by the new year. Because it's fast fashion, you feel like you didn't lose much, so it's just sitting dusty in a clothing bag in your closest. Find a local shelter or group home, especially those who are transitioning out of care and need professional clothes to support themselves and their futures. And there ya go! Add in a holiday party with entertainment and you got a company/ organization event that can also be branded 🤷🏾♀️ and you can bring in local celebrities for more exposure. Some hospitals, such as Children’s Miracle Network and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, offer online platforms where you can design virtual valentines for patients. Shop and support CHD: Contribute to CHD causes while shopping. For instance, Heart2Heart Coffee donates 100% of coffee sales profits to organizations like the Children’s Heart Foundation. CHD Apparel Co. also allocates 50% of profits to CHD-related charities. Your shopping choices can make a meaningful impact in supporting the cause.

🔊 AGCM - Fines for over €1 million to two companies linked to the influencer Chiara Ferragni and €420,000 to Balocco for unfair commercial practice 🍞 According to the AGCM, the companies Fenice, TBS Crew and Balocco led consumers to believe that by purchasing the “Ferragni-branded” Balocco pandoro, they would contribute to a donation to the Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin. The donation, amounting to €50,000, had instead already been made by Balocco alone months earlier. 🏥 The companies associated with Chiara Ferragni received over €1 million for licensing Mrs. Ferragni's brands and creating advertising content without contributing to the Regina Margherita Hospital donation. 📌 According to the AGCM, this practice significantly limited consumers' freedom of choice by leveraging their sensitivity to charitable initiatives, especially those aiding children with serious illnesses. 🔴 This violated the duty of professional diligence under Article 20 of the Consumer Code, constituting an unfair commercial practice characterized by deceptive elements under Articles 21 and 22 of the Consumer Code. 🔗see the press release here➡https://lnkd.in/dVmvaxhu #unfairpractices #consumerprotection #AGCM 

Buying a burrito never used to come with two separate servings of guilt. In addition to prompts to tip, however, requests to round-up your purchase for charity are popping up everywhere from stores to movie theaters and casinos. Vastly more donation campaigns now include a round-up component than they did in 2020, according to a report on charity appeals in the checkout line from social impact organization Engage for Good. Shoppers aren’t worried about spending a dollar on worthy causes like PetSmart’s efforts to help shelter animals find homes or Costco Wholesale’s campaigns to help sick kids, they say. But they're tired of chain retailers asking them for money and complain that their donations earn tax benefits for companies. Shelly Allhands says she’s annoyed by businesses with lots of money asking for spare change, comparing round-up requests to “millionaires who tell us to use paper straws while flying private jets.” Chris Perry has worked in nonprofit fundraising for over a decade. He’s worried about the fatigue he’s hearing from would-be donors, and how people are lumping charity round-ups together with tipping. The philanthropic organizations he’s worked with like Rebuilding Together and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals rely on the campaigns to fund as much as half of their efforts. “We’re asking consumers to pay salaries, fix charities, all these things at the same time when they’re maybe struggling, too,” says Perry. “I wish I could stand there at the checkout on every single one and say, ‘I promise you, this is going to where you think it’s going to,’ ” he says. Some interesting stats: - U.S. companies raised more than $749 million from consumers at checkout in 2022, a 24% increase from 2020, according to Engage for Good.  - But the number of consumers who said they donated to a charity at the register is down steeply over the past two years, says Accelerist. It dropped from 80% in 2021 to 59% in 2023.  - 73% of shoppers said they feel neutral or positive about being asked for a donation at checkout as of this year, according to Accelerist, down from 85% in 2021. Be intentional and connect me to the cause, because I stopped to get milk, not to save the world. (But maybe I want too). I would much rather see purposeful marketing and promotion in a store saying that 1% of all sales today are going to (insert charity). Maybe a banner at the front, or a geo-fence banner if I'm the website, or app. Offer next steps: - Have a QR code for people to learn about the charity or how to get involved locally - Offer kids a goodie bag to learn about the issue in an age-appropriate way - Educate me (the customer) on the connection between the store's mission and the charity
