Canada Day is a national holiday celebrating the country's independence from Great Britain in 1867. The new nation, still loyal to Great Britain, was called the Dominion of Canada and consisted of only four provinces ((Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec). Now, there are 10 provinces and 3 territories. Thought I would share some fun facts. • Canada is the second-largest country in the world. • One of the longest highways in the world is in Canada. • Churchill, Manitoba, is the "Polar Bear Capital of the World." • Canada crosses six time zones. • Canada has the longest coastline of any country. • Canada is the world's largest producer of maple syrup. • Canadian national sports are Lacrosse and Hockey • The name "Canada" has indigenous roots. It comes from the word kanata, meaning "village" or "settlement • The beaver is Canada's national animal. Canada is rich in wildlife like grizzly bears, moose, cougars, elk & black bears • The telephone & basketball was invented in Canada. Wishing you all a Happy Canada day from Anjuna Airlines Solutions.

👇🏼 This report shows the logic of my thinking on proximity travel and the subsidiarity principle- if we don't degrow with good planning, we will be forced to degrow tourism through crises and disasters. See freely at https://lnkd.in/gvXMkF-t). 🏕 This report says British children that were flown to South Korea for a scouting gathering had to be evacuated to the capital due to excessive heat. Seems you can't have youth camps and youth sports in a massive heat wave... 🛑 The logic of our current capitalist form of tourism is no longer fit for purpose. We need to reduce our travel circuits, we need to connect better locally for community connection and well-being and we need to reduce our impacts on the planet's living systems with urgency. https://lnkd.in/gFdpGZdE

We’d like to share an important note from Monique Richards, our Managing Director of Aquent Australia about the 26th of January. “On January 26th, Aquent Australia will remain open. Since 1994, 'Australia Day' has been a public holiday nationwide. This year, while many take the day off, we'll be working, so if you find yourself in need of company or conversation, feel free to shoot us an email or give us a call. In Australia, the 26th of January holds varied meanings for different people: a day of joy and pride, or one of sorrow. For some, it's linked to the simple pleasures; Triple J Hottest 100, cricket matches, and family BBQs. For others, it marks the attainment of a key milestone, Australian citizenship. Yet, for those whose ancestors have lived on this land for millennia, it's a really tough day of mourning. Diverse perspectives shape the discussion around Australia Day. While some advocate for maintaining the status quo, others push for a change in the date. Questions linger about the appropriateness of celebrating a 'national' day altogether. No other day in Australia sparks such a vibrant discussion. As we navigate through these complexities, let's engage in open and respectful conversations. We acknowledge the diversity of experiences that shape this day and remain committed to fostering understanding and connection. Enjoy the day the way you choose to observe it!“ #DiversePerspectives #NationalConversation #AustraliaDay #InvasionDay

President & CEO of ST Global Asset Management | MBA, CIM, DMS, CMT & CFTe. Political positions are mine and personal. Market positions are not a solicitation to trade or invest.
In Canada, counter to the chart of human rights and to any Federal and Provincial regulation, there are different rights and different obligations for various categories of people. Under this proposal, how should we define a “new citizen” somebody who say got his citizenship 365 days ago? So the people who became citizens 367 days ago must pay to access national parks but if only 365 days have passed since becoming citizen you must not pay? You see previously the political debate was about tastes and subjective choices - both the conservatives and the liberals stood for a basic core set of principles. The debate has now become between right and wrong because it simply wrong to INVENT non sensical ways to sow division and destruction in the society. Like this “prime minister” has done for 9 years at this point. Canada deserves better. Canadians deserve better. This behavior does not repr sent us or our country. And change is coming. https://lnkd.in/g5vqT9EW

I don’t usually post personal things on LinkedIn, but today, as I celebrate Canada Day, I find myself reflecting on this incredible country’s past, present, and future, as well as my family’s place in it. Not many people know this, but I was not born in Canada. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was young, and I watched them make countless sacrifices and work long hours in odd jobs just to get our family by. They did this because they believed in the Canadian dream. I am a living embodiment of that dream. The level of social mobility I have experienced within my relatively short lifetime would have been impossible anywhere else. Regardless of whether someone immigrated 20 years ago or 200, the dream has always been the same. For millions of people, both in-country and abroad, Canada is a beacon of hope—hope for a just and free society, and hope that no matter who you are and where you come from, a better future is possible. I recognize that Canada is not perfect. Like many countries, it has a complex history full of injustice and tragedy. However, we, as a society, have recognized these mistakes and are actively working to do better. Canada has made tremendous progress, and that is the true hallmark of any great nation. I love Canada, but I am also concerned for its future. The freedom and democracy we often take for granted were hard-fought and, if not protected, can easily be lost. The Canadian dream is becoming increasingly out of reach. The values and unity that made this country great are slowly eroding. Nevertheless, like my parents, and generations of Canadians before them, I have hope that a better future is possible. With that, I would like to wish my network a joyful Canada Day and a happy birthday to the greatest country in the world!

The holiday season is a time for joy, warmth, and connection. Here are 𝟱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 to make this holiday season extra special for those who have recently arrived in Canada: 𝟏. 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 A simple smile or a friendly greeting can go a long way to making someone feel a part of the community. 𝟐. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 Volunteer your time to be a guide in their journey by sharing information about local services, helping them settle in, and introducing them to others with common interests. 𝟑. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 Embrace diversity by learning about their culture and heritage. Share your own holiday traditions and the rich cultural tapestry of Canada. In doing so it’s important to acknowledge that the history of Canada began far earlier than the European colonization and settlement, and to understand the history of the Indigenous Peoples that are living on this land and have been since time immemorial, long before immigrants came from all around the world. 𝟒. 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 Support newcomers in setting up their new homes by donating second-hand clothing, furniture. and housewares. Small gestures can make a big impact in ensuring a sense of belonging. 𝟓. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 🏒 Nothing says winter in Canada like Hockey! Invite those new to your community to a local hockey game. It's a fantastic way to share a favorite Canadian pastime and create lasting memories together. For more tips and information on how you can support newcomers, visit Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. https://lnkd.in/effhaK6N Let's make this holiday season a time of unity, understanding, and shared joy for all, ensuring that everyone feels the warmth of our welcoming community. #WelcomingNewcomers #HolidayWarmth
