WHAT A YEAR. As we move into 2024, I am filled with gratitude and hope. I organized an LLC over the summer and prior to the holiday I received a compliment that made me pause and realize I’m on the right path. "𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 -- 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 ~5𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘭 & 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦'𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘵". Yet, I never expected to be here. I entered 2023 working alongside a cherished mentor and friend at an emerging climate tech start up. Along with ~30% of the company and the entire talent acquisition team, I was laid off on June 1. I spent Q3 launching my business and serving my first client while interviewing for full time jobs. Early Q4 was much the same, but in December something shifted. I came to the realization that I was distracted. Distracted by countless job alerts, dozens of applications, far too few interviews, and no offers. I needed to pick a lane. I could either be fully present and intentional in that search or in building a business, not both. Those distractions not only robbed me of my focus, they confused my identity, and I'd unwittingly sacrificed some of my independence to those alerts, applications, and interviews. I’m moving into this new year with a more self-reliant mindset. I fully expect to look back on 2024 and say "what a year!". I intend to create strong relationships and enable my clients to attract, hire, and retain amazing people. Together we will solve hiring problems by creating diverse hiring funnels and by designing structured, inclusive recruiting processes that provide delight and drive sustainable growth. And I fully expect we’ll reflect “what a year!” together. I’m really good at what I do, because I really love what I do.
