How do we become excellent business partners? That’s what I got to discuss at a full day of teaching on Friday. With a scenic view of Copenhagen harbor, we concluded: ✅ We create impact with/through others. We can’t succeed in isolation. ✅ Our output is only valuable if it leads to the desired outcome. ✅ The best insight, recommendation, or solution is worth nothing if we can’t influence our stakeholders to use it. ✅ We must actively prioritize our stakeholders and not just service those who shout the loudest. ✅ Trustworthiness is more than being credible and reliable. We must create intimacy and limit self-orientation. ✅ We must empathize with our stakeholders to see their perspectives and create win-win outcomes. ✅ We must balance inquiry and advocacy to drive constructive stakeholder dialogues. ✅ Ensuring continuous follow-ups with our business stakeholders creates synergies over time. ✅ “Hunting in pairs” when facing the business leads to better end results.
