Important analysis in recent The Wall Street Journal article by the always insightful Owen West. Two takeaways for me were: (1) Our military service leadership should be careful to lead in an apolitical manner. (2) America needs to find more ways to come together across the spectrum to increase love of country, what it stands for, and importance of service to it.

How do you describe tyrannical democrats vis-a-vis military regimes? Democracy, is generally agreed as the "best evil" as a system of governance. In Africa, as evidenced in some countries, leaders have successfully exploited constitutional loopholes to their advantage. It's all about their personal ambitions and not their civic duties. But alas, the Constitutions of some countries provide them that room to operate. Military regimes of yore may have been bloodier but we see some "peaceful" ones of late which appear to have men of conscience than the democrats we voted for. Is it not men of conscience we lack? Or we prefer a fancy and globally acclaimed system which has only shielded unscrupulous men? The men of conscience are those who can build the systems that will run effectively.

Capitalism, eventually becomes a Kleptocracy with unbridled Greed.... While Morals and Values become meaningless. Reality is that there are approx 3000 billionaires, approx 1000 global political leaders, of which 535 are in the US Congress. Then there are another 1000 influential Lobbyists and people in the Military Industrial Complex...making large contributions to the politicians for political favors. These roughly 5000 people, are above the law. They decide what policies are put in place for the rest of 8 billion of us to follow. They also decide who will fight the next wars, with our son's and daughter's, for their profit and power.
