Let’s Go, Beer Nerds. Lady Justice Brewing launched in 2016 as a membership-only brewery, offering exclusive beer and experiences, all while giving back to our community. A lot of things have changed since then, but one thing we’ve insisted stays the same is that 100% of profits over cost from the sales of our memberships will be donated to nonprofits that support and empower women, girls, and non-binary people. We’ve donated over $50,000 to date, all thanks to our customers who are dedicated to great beer for a better world. Join us for a membership that you can purchase at a quarterly rate or annually at a discount, all supporting #GreatBeerBetterWorld and giving you a top request - to learn more about beer! 10 years ago, "Craft" was all about being different from big beer and clearly, the battle was in the Specialty segment which was "marginal". I mean.... was there a big guy brewing a Gose or an IPA really? In 2024 and going forward, "Craft" is first and foremost a mindset and brewing lagers, even American Light Lager is absolutely fine. And really that is going to change the game a lot as both will now fight in the central arena looking for consumer's attention. Here is Montucky. A beer from Montana, named after Montana backwood and rural side nickname. Tagline: Cold Snack. Giving 8% of profit to local charities. Great taste, cool design, priced between Busch and Bud. This year it made it in the 50 largest craft by volume and is available in 32 states. Oh and GALLO (Wine & Spirit) just made a strategic investment in Montucky, adding fuel to the fire! So we have more Wine & Spirit companies with a leg in the beer world, while the beer world is all about beyond beer. More fusions ahead!

When we talk about food inaccessibility, food deserts, food impoverty, time-distance ratios...the most basic need of all humans, I've never thought about food poverty re military soldiers in American. Food insecurity is an unacceptable reality in the U.S. for all of us, regardless of race, gender, age, ethnicity, region, state, socioeconomic status... the wealthy could be increasing the healthy of the lower economic populations...philanthropy at the most basic level of humanity. We must EMPOWER ... teach others to fish, not just hand out fish at food banks.. I'm not disrespecting the importance but food banks, infrastructure is costly, brick and mortar. Teaching our youth to grow GROWceries, sustainability in the most personal with healthy choices, social-emotional learning, healing. U.S. is similar to some third world countries, said the late Stan Brock, Remote Area Medical who I interviewed before his passing. Returning to our roots by growing our own roots, saving billions of dollars, through Corporate Community Public Private Partnerships, corporate investments with w/ SMEs serving as volunteers ie TRANE's 500,000 employees globally, "WE MOVE FOOD" and "FEEDING AMERICA." I challenge Corporate America to follow TRANEs lead.. Csuites executives, investors, brokers, SMEs, to put your money where your mouth is...aka food, feeding Americans. I have seen too many starving school children and I have felt their hunger pains. Hunger isn't always about the physical, it's also about the mental health. Michael and Susan Dell's research, UT Houston, Healthy Children Healthy Texas. America, we are in a food crisis. Start with microgreen gardens at home. I'd love to help create aquaponics gardens ie Island Aquaponics Galveston. Let's use the land and water we have left to cultivate easier access to food in community. All of us might just start feeling better about life. I'd like to create a corporate community healing gardens with teens and Veterans, both suffering trauma, but no one is listening to their deafening silence. https://lnkd.in/gkt7gzQD

More from my speaking notes a recent LBOL session! Food insecurity in Guelph & Wellington County is a bigger problem than you might think. 18% of households in our community are food insecure, and 52% of those people have wages, salaries or self-employment. Some of my ideas to spend less money on food included = sprouting & winter sowing = CSA share and batch-making a smoothie & soup “of the week” = keeping scraps for broth = starting a soup exchange group = switch to dried legumes from canned = instant pot, chest freezer and vitamix and items available from the GTL Then we went into a small group activity to share ideas to spend less money on food, and to prioritize our top questions/themes for next week’s expert guests! Our talking points included: -share your experiences for the best deals or habits when it comes to smart shopping. -what things do you need to consider when shopping? -what are your go-to meals? -what is available to you for cooking? -do you have dietary restrictions? -how do you decide what you are going to eat? Then we created a group flip chart page our IDEAS and QUESTIONS! My favourite might have been the idea of harvesting all the neighbourhood jack o lanterns to eat and to harvest seeds from… At the break we signed T-you cards for previous presenters, and filled out ballots for draw prizes. I had donated a daikon radish from my CSA share for folks to taste, and was delighted when Susan wanted to take home the leftover. Liz won a big free rutabaga and some leeks, which were purchased from our refreshment budget! Another person won a frozen package of lean ground beef that was on the free surplus table at the Seed (sliding scale market) earlier that day. The main prize was a Starbucks gift basket of a travel cup and two kinds of coffee… nothing was re-gifted this week for future draw prizes, so as kooky as some of those winnings might seem, they were well received!
