This semester at my job was very eye opening. I learned a lot. But the biggest thing i learned was patience. Rather how to be more patient. Patience is key to most things in life. Patience is time. I could benefit from more training, to greater my performance. Three goals i would set for myself is one to try to manage my time better. Two, strive for what i want. Three, start looking at colleges that would truly benefit for me. Think programs and opportunities. Help out more at the restaurant. Help clean the bar, wipe down the computers, do tea (brew a fresh batch of tea, cut lemons/limes, refill jalapeños). #cherokeewbl #georgiawblworks

LSS MBB | Operational Excellence | Driving Out Waste in Healthcare and Improving Quality of Care | CHI Excellence 2022 - Young Achiever Awardee
My son asked: "Why does a McD Burger taste the same, even if we go to different branches and cities?" 🍔 Here's my take: 👇 📌People don't produce results all by themselves; activities do. 💡McD and similar food chains understand and apply this concept. 📌Despite facing attrition and frequent worker changes, they prioritize Standard Work. 📌 Standard Work is the only way to do the job. 📌They control inputs, processes, and maintain a consistent output. 📌To achieve this they provide the right information, tools, and environment. 📌Visual cues are employed to reinforce standards. 📌Training doesn't just happen on the job; it occurs well before the job assignment. This is how McD Burgers achieve that consistent taste. 🌐 Would love to hear if I missed anything or get insights from someone in a similar food chain! #StandardWork #processimprovement

Want to kickstart your career in seafood retail or enhance your fishmonger skills? Places are available on our Certificate in Fishmonger Skills which provides practical skills with fully certified training to those working in or aspiring to enter seafood retail. Phillip Hanley, from Bubbas Fishmongers in Bray, Co Wicklow, talks about how his experience in the certificate programme boosted his knowledge which has benefitted his family run business. "The course gave me the confidence and knowledge in fish mongering I needed to run the business in the best way possible," said Phillip. "I was in the restaurant business with my dad and brothers for so long but had never had a lot of experience with fish mongering. The course provided me with so much important knowledge I didn’t previously have. For example, small but important aspects of fish mongering such as storing and displaying fish." let's talk about it
taking on the additional role at the Food Works Culinary program at the Maryland Food Bank has brought me here to ask those looking for entry level talent what skills are you most looking for that can be included in a 12 week program with a 70/30 split of kitchen time/class time. At current the program gets graduates Food handler and food service manager servsafe certified. Using Rouxbe the candidates are exposed to some basic Culinary Skill 1 concepts. in an attempt to revamp and make these individuals more employable I have suggested more kitchen time focusing on the actual job skills, only getting Food handler servsafe, and placing a lot less emphasis on the book/class time. while I believe a in depth education is important I believe, as an employer myself, that since the program on has a finite amount of time to devote to these individuals, that we focus more on job readiness than pre-academic coursework. I would love some other opinions as well as some skills that you would like to see from an entry level non Culinary school grad.
