Meet my maternal grandfather “Daddy Long” Although I never met him, I’m grateful for the foundation he built. His father was a White man from Jonesville, SC who impregnated his teenage mother. He had every reason to be bitter and angry, but My understanding is he was a gentle, loving, and kind soul. Working as a Bell-Hop for a hotel in Spartanburg, SC He built a home and provided for his family of four (my mom and her siblings). While also caring for his momma and sister who had three of her own children. I wish I could talk to him today and ask him how… How did you do it Daddy Long? From where did you draw your strength? I know he wasn’t a religious or even spiritual man. I think he’d tell me to always believe in myself. I think he’d say no matter what comes your way, you have the power to overcome it… I realize this is such a random post. I was going through photos in my phone and paused when I saw it. Here’s where I’ll leave it, Whatever you’re going through, remember the strength of your ancestors. Remember you are a part of a bloodline of overcomers. Morning all! Let's go!!!!

I walked 1.8 miles this morning. My goal was 2.0 miles, so apparently I under calculated my route. Normally I’d be kicking myself because I didn’t meet my goal, but Last week’s devotional I talked about the power of positivity so I’m celebrating. I’m celebrating the fact that I didn’t want to get up this morning, but did it anyway. I definitely didn’t want to walk this AM, but came up short ONLY .2 miles And, I pushed through the pain in my knee 😩 I don’t know your plans for today, for the week, or for the rest of this year. What I do know is stuff happens. And when it does you have to meet it with grace and positivity. For some that’s a no brainer. For you and me, it takes intention. Celebrate your wins 🥳 Yes, even the small ones.
