“Do most people around you think media relations and public relations are the same? ” I used to think so too, until I was given the opportunity to explore this time. Exploring media relations has allowed me to understand its role in shaping public perceptions and organizational reputations. We cannot control what the audience thinks in nowadays, but we can manage whether the message is conveyed correctly to retain the company's image. The KFC chicken crisis serves as a vivid example of how media relations can make or break a brand. The initial panic and negative media coverage left KFC in a dire situation. However, witnessing their recovery through transparent and humorous communication strategies was truly enlightening. Creating a video podcast is a challenge for me because I have to make sure I convey the knowledge correctly to my audience. In addition, since English is not my native language, I have to practice constantly to perform at my best. Not only did this unlock new things for me, it also taught me the importance of media relations. My first PR contract was in November 2018 - for a Will Smith event. The lights, cameras, and action drew me in... I didn't realize that there was so much more to PR (public relations).
