Imagine two gladiators entering the arena, fighting to the death. Not quite the image you'd associate with your morning brew, right? That's exactly what's happening in the world of coffee alternatives and mushroom blends, with brands like Mud WTR, Everyday Dose, and Ryze. In the left corner, we have the mushroom blends, throwing jabs with their earthy aroma. On the right, we have the coffee alternatives, throwing punches with their caffeine-free promises. But here's the plot twist. The real enemy isn't in the ring. It’s sitting comfortably on the sidelines - the traditional coffee industry. Why fight with each other when they can tag team against the coffee Goliath? I'm just a humble CPG professional with a penchant for innovative brews and a good bout of brand strategy. I've tried them all, from the earthy allure of Mud WTR to the caffeine promise of Everyday Dose and the unique taste of Ryze. But I'm not here to pick a favorite. I'm here to wave a flag of truce. Imagine a world where mushroom blends and coffee alternatives aren't enemies but allies. A world where they carve their own niche within the coffee segment, just like tea did. A world where, together, they can grab a bigger slice of the caffeine pie. It reminds me of that old saying, 'United we stand, divided we fall'. It's time to stop the infighting and start turning our attention towards the real competition. So next time you're sipping on your alternative brew, remember, the enemy isn't within, it's out there. And if we band together, we may just be able to shake up the coffee industry and give them a run for their beans. As a CPG professional, I encourage the brands to shift focus, create alliances, and expand their horizons. After all, a bigger slice of the pie tastes much better when shared.
