⚡We need to talk about DEEPFAKES⚡With three days until the UK election, how can we spot the most plausible fakes on the block? Well, it's actually easier than you think. 💫 I've created some simple checks in my book The Future of Truth (and How There), just go to Chapter 9 'AI Think, Therefore AI Am' and look for The Deepfake Test. For now, here's a quick checklist for the eagle-eyed Artificial Information-lovers in your life: 🧠 Look for wobbly bits: the eyes, lips and edges are really hard to fake. 🧠 If the mouth doesn't quite match the words, or there's blurring, or the expression doesn't match the content, WALK AWAY. 🧠 Ask: 'would this person REALLY say that?' If it seems really unlikely, WALK AWAY. 🧠 If the quote makes you feel uncomfortable, with a jolt of 'uncanny valley', WALK AWAY. Quite honestly, some of the election claims and counter-claims coming from humans need fact-checking right now so deepfakes are the least of our problems. But I've investigated deepfakes in detail in the book - which you can find right now by searching 'THE FUTURE OF TRUTH LINDLEY'.
