As I have worked in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for a number of years now, and noticing how all our work pans out in this big global village, we need to continue to explore into detail the intersection between the environmental, sustainability and (SRHR). On World Environment Day, 5th June 2024, as we focus on "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience," it’s crucial to recognize the nexus, and build healthy ecosystems that directly support communities' wellbeing, particularly empowering young girls and women. To ensure adolescents continue to have access to SRHR information and services.. #We need to build stronger synergies and encourage collaborations on these important issues towards building sustainable systems beyond commemoration days.

Let’s celebrate today’s International Day of Action for Women’s Health! 🎉 At Wemos, we are proud to be part of the Make Way programme. Make Way aims to break down barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), particularly for women and youth, by promoting intersectional advocacy for SRHR. Many women and girls lack the right and autonomy to make their own choices when it comes to their health and to access life-saving SRHR information and services. We need strong health systems to ensure the health and wellbeing of each of us, yet these systems require sufficient funding and resources to provide quality sexual and reproductive health services for everyone. UN Women state that there remains an alarming lack of financing for gender-equality measures, including for reproductive health, with a deficit of USD $360 billion. Make Way calls on governments worldwide to invest in resilient health systems to ensure that women and girls can access the SRHR information and services that they need. On International Day of Action for Women’s Health, organisations and activists around the world come together to amplify demands for sexual and reproductive health and rights and justice (SRHRJ) for all. They call for inclusive, accessible, and available sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services, and demand that SRHR is prioritised in all development agendas. These are turbulent times marked by wars, injustices, crises, and authoritarianism. Yet, there are pivotal opportunities to commit to a future where the SRHR of women, girls, and gender-diverse people are fulfilled, protected, and promoted. At Abt, we remain committed to ensuring everyone has the power to make decisions about their own bodies and futures, free from coercion and discrimination. #WomensHealthMatters #SRHRJ #GEDSI

Today United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) launched a new report entitled “Advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights in the private sector - the case for action and accountability in the workplace” - produced in collaboration with Accenture. It was an honor to work with The Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business to support this groundbreaking initiative to help organizations enhance their employees’ reproductive health using the world’s first sexual and reproductive health ESG indicators. Regardless of where businesses are on their SRHR journey, these indicators and metrics can serve as a scorecard for organizations to track their progress, share their successes, and create accountability through their ESG reporting. What gets measured, gets managed! https://lnkd.in/gNfHHh3d

If I had a hundred-dollar bill for every time someone turned up their nose and said, "So you're a feminist?" I'd retire early. Feminism, at its core, is the sociopolitical movement and ideology striving to establish equality of the sexes in all spheres of life. For me, as a reproductive health enthusiast, feminism translates simply as inclusion. Inclusive approaches in reproductive health not only uphold the principles of true feminism but also lead to better outcomes for all. By embracing diversity, we cultivate an environment where every individual's unique needs are recognized and respected. True feminism in reproductive health means advocating for equitable access to care, regardless of gender identity, race, socioeconomic status, or any other factor. It involves acknowledging and addressing the diverse experiences and challenges individuals face in their reproductive journeys. Prioritizing inclusivity creates spaces where marginalized voices are not just heard but valued. This not only fosters fairness but also propels innovation and progress in healthcare delivery. Fostering an inclusive environment demands proactive steps: 📍 Ensure diverse representation in decision-making processes, spanning from policy development to healthcare provision, to authentically reflect the communities we serve. 📍 Provide comprehensive education and training programs focusing on cultural competence and sensitivity, empowering healthcare providers to deliver responsive care to diverse needs. 📍 Make reproductive health services accessible and affordable to all, irrespective of background or circumstances, to ensure no one is left behind. 📍 Engage communities to understand their unique needs and perspectives, fostering trust and collaboration to drive positive change. By embracing diversity and nurturing an inclusive environment in reproductive health, we advance the cause of true feminism and establish a healthcare system that genuinely serves everyone, leaving no one behind. So, are you a feminist? #TrueFeminism #ReproductiveJustice 🌍🤝
