Job postings are meant to call the right person in! Salary transparency isn't a requirement for job postings in all parts of the country. But more and more states are beginning to mandate this as a legal requirement - New York instituted such a rule in September 2023. Having a well-defined range, and letting candidates know some of the factors that could affect where they may fall in that range, goes a long way towards attracting the right candidates to your open jobs! A general, vague job posting doesn't benefit anyone - the candidates applying, or the hiring team reviewing applicants. Specificity is key, but maybe not in the way you think. Some specificity in the skills and experience required helps potential applicants self-qualify if the job is right for them.
