🔆 We've compiled a lighthearted list of trends impacting Lighting People in 2024, many of which represent positive steps forward. These trends include a growing emphasis on the quality of light and the evolution of lighting controls.
📅 Additionally, there is a noticeable reduction in lead times across various product categories.
🌍 A significant concern in the lighting industry, however, is the sustainability of some luminaires.
🏫 As flat panels begin to fail in that local high school built in 2015, the question arises: what should the facility do?
🚮 Should it discard flat panels in the dumpster each time they are replaced individually as they fail, or should it opt for group replacements, either by classroom or throughout the entire school – earmarking all the old fixtures for a recycling company?
🚫 Regardless, we can all agree that throwing existing fixtures in the ocean every 7-10 years is bad, but widely implemented solutions that curtail full fixture replacement cycles don’t seem to be prevalent.
🌱 It is hoped that the lighting industry and other related stakeholders will find more ways to reduce waste, preventing building owners from sending large light fixtures to our local landfills every several years.
💡 Finally, it's important to clarify that our reference to LightFair 2024 in the image is not a critique of the esteemed LightFair. Rather, it acknowledges that for the first time since its inception, LightFair is not organizing an event this year, now that it has transitioned to a biennial format. The show is set to make its triumphant return in 2025 in Las Vegas.

4moLightapalooza was an amazing conference from start to finish! The classes were wonderfully designed and the panelists and presenters did a great job of making the complex seem simple. It was my first time attending but definitely not my last!
