Did you know that there are now 115 mobile network operators #investing in #5g standalone networks #globally? According to the latest GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) report (linked below), there are now 115 different #mnos worldwide ‘experimenting with and deploying 5G standalone (SA) #networks' . This is a major step forward to the deployment of true #5gnetworks that wont be throttled back by having to rely on the data being sent through a #4g core network, this will unleash true 5g. Download a movie in seconds – check! In the UK we have recently seen announcements from Vodafone and Virgin Media O2 on this subject for example. https://lnkd.in/e_ijVUSg

🔍 Recent studies are shedding light on the pivotal role of neutral hosts in the #5G era: 📊 A survey by Boldyn Networks, carried out by Sapio Research, reveals a staggering 92% of telecom decision-makers are likely to partner with #neutralhost to tackle the challenges of 5G network densification. 📈 Confidence in 5G is surging, with 71% of respondents across the US, UK, and Ireland expressing increased assurance in 5G capabilities. The demand for rapid, robust 5G rollouts is clear, as 86% of US decision-makers and 64% of those in the UK and Ireland report direct performance impacts due to 5G availability. 💼 However, the journey isn't without hurdles. A significant 96% of decision-makers have encountered challenges when deploying 5G #infrastructure, with high capex, achieving widespread connectivity, and laying new #fiber as the top concerns. 🌎 Looking at the bigger picture, a completely separate second analysis highlights the global neutral hosting market is on a trajectory to hit an impressive $8.7 billion by 2028. North America is expected to lead this market, with #APAC and Europe not far behind. In particular, #das - based neutral hosting is anticipated to be crucial for public venue deployments. As we continue to navigate the complexities of 5G deployment, it's clear that neutral hosting and DAS will be central to enabling efficient, widespread connectivity. #FWA #DAS #Neutralhost #IBC #5G #innovation

SVP/Chief Marketing Officer & Head of Corporate Relations @Ericsson | Proud to be involved in making positive changes for our customers, colleagues and wider society
We are delighted that AT&T has selected Ericsson for a ground-breaking 5-year strategic partnership, that will pave the way for future intelligent networks. The deal, the largest in Ericsson’s history and worth approximately USD 14 billion, will see us deploying a wide range of our 5G Open Radio Access Networks products and solutions to support AT&T’s nationwide Open RAN ambitions in the U.S. The shift to high-performance, open, cloud-based networks will enable new performance-based business models and opportunities for network optimization and monetization. This is the next step in digitalization and a significant strategic shift for the industry. Our 5G Smart Factory in Texas will produce the infrastructure, all proudly 'Made in USA', as we become the first mobile infrastructure provider to achieve compliance with the infrastructure law’s Build America, Buy America provision. This partnership aligns with our R&D-investment-led company strategy, focusing on sustainability-centred technology offerings. We believe that future networks must be increasingly resilient, open, sustainable, and intelligent. We're looking forward to innovating with AT&T and accelerating digital transformation across the U.S. You can read more about the deal here: https://lnkd.in/d7JtrRW2 Börje Ekholm | Fredrik Jejdling | MajBritt Arfert | Scott G Dresser | Erik Ekudden | Moti Gyamlani | Niklas Heuveldop | Chris Houghton | Jenny Lindqvist | Carl Mellander | Nunzio Mirtillo | Per Narvinger | Fadi Pharaon | Rory Read | Åsa Tamsons #EricssonOpenRAN #NetworksOfTheFuture #5GOpenRAN #EricssonandAT&T #MadeinUSA

Ericsson has scored a significant victory over rival Nokia after AT&T selected the Swedish group for the rollout of a new kind of 5G network, in a deal that will shake up the telecoms equipment supply chain. AT&T announced a tie-up that it said could be worth up to $14bn to develop “open RAN” networks with kit from Ericsson, as well as Japan’s Fujitsu. AT&T wants 70 per cent of its wireless network traffic to flow across what it terms “open-capable platforms” by late 2026. Analysts at Citi said the move was “a significant announcement, for Ericsson, AT&T, Nokia and the industry. We view this announcement as a clear positive for Ericsson, as it becomes the first truly global vendor to deploy open RAN with a major operator into an existing network.” AT&T said the move would “help build a more robust ecosystem of network infrastructure providers and suppliers”. The group, which is in the midst of a restructuring, said increased competition would lead to more innovation and help lower network costs. #ericsson #nokia #openran #5gnetworks #fujitsu #att #supplychain #telecoms #citi #infrastructure

Commonly, mobile carriers have been operating network communication in voice, data, etc. However, some countries will start allocating 5G frequencies to private networks either as pilot tests or commercial operations, as networks transition from LTE to 5G. Thus, the technology can be installed within commercial buildings operating as a private network for enterprises with low latency, high-reliability communications. Depending on how the market evolves in the future, the business structure of the network industry may change. https://lnkd.in/g2hiVvjF
