Abbey is currently working as a Marketing Coordinator at Blue Dog Bakery. Abbey shares that we should "Always be open to learning, and expressing that. Even if you’re extremely involved in university, had internships/part-time jobs, shifting to a full-time job post grad is so different. Be honest with the fact that you still have a lot to learn, and be really open about that. Ask for challenging new projects at work so you can learn the most you can about your company. As a new grad you won’t know everything - and that’s okay! I think I put a lot of pressure on myself to be more experienced than the average new grad, but quickly realized that it’s okay to not know everything and learn. I also suggest communicating your fellow peers about their job search. How much do they make, did they negotiate their day, what is their company culture like? Transparency is so important. When I was job searching I'd see such a wide range in pay, so I would ask my peers what their pay was to find another that I thought was fair and valued my knowledge thus far." 🚀Second day of Internship Experience UK 2024 at Bright Network – Part 3 and Recap! ✅The first speaker for the after-break event was Lydia Cronin, who introduced those without a Business background to B2B marketing. She explained the key difference between B2B and B2C and laid out what demand generation meant. ✨The takeaways from Lydia’s talk: -       A demand generation role is fast-paced and involves both creative and analytical skills. -       A lead – a likely buyer. -       Demand generation is content, strategy, free tools and potential leads. -       Marketing actions can turn into sales conversations. -       Key skills: adaptability, communication, empathy, commercial mindedness ✅The second part of the afternoon involved Graduate Networking Hours, where we could ask questions to recent graduates who work with the companies that were presenting to us in the past two days. I have chosen to attend sessions with Mondelēz International and Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I. Both have answered the questions that I had about the brands and the inner processes for grad jobs.   ✅The last part of the day involved an introduction to the main work sample task of the event that we will be taking on over the next 2 days. ⭕ Overall, I have had a very enjoyable second day. Not only did she restart her career after 6 years, she also switched her career to digital marketing after a long experience in finance. Apprenticeship Acceptance: I recently received acceptance for an apprenticeship opportunity that I was extremely passionate about. However, a small roadblock stood in my way - the need for a solid foundation in mathematics. Instead of letting this deter me, I made a conscious decision to tackle the challenge head-on. Enrolled in College: With unwavering determination, I enrolled in a college program to sharpen my math skills. Education is a lifelong journey, and I firmly believe that embracing opportunities for growth, no matter when they arise, is essential for personal and professional development. Marketing Assistant Interview: The past weeks also included an interview for a Marketing Assistant role. It was a fantastic experience that allowed me to showcase my passion for marketing and learn from the process, regardless of the outcome. Girls in Marketing Digital Marketing Internship: I've been diving deep into the world of digital marketing through the Girls in Marketing internship program. It's been an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and gain hands-on experience in this dynamic field. Work Experience at UHNM: I'm humbled and excited to share that I've been accepted to participate in a work experience program within the Recruitment and Communications team at UHNM (University Hospitals of North Midlands). This is a valuable chance to contribute to a meaningful cause and further develop my skills. Job Interview at the Hospital: Another thrilling moment involved a job interview at the hospital for a JOSM (Junior Operational Service Manager) role. Certifications on HubSpot: In parallel with all these experiences, I've been diligently working towards certifications on HubSpot in Digital Marketing, Content Marketing, Social Media Marketing, and SEO. Continuous learning is the foundation of growth, and these certifications will empower me to excel in the ever-evolving marketing landscape. This was me five years ago, absolutely buzzing after just receiving Henry McIntosh's email confirming that I had secured my first post-graduate job at Twenty One Twelve Marketing!  🎉🥂 Coming out of uni with no ‘real’ industry experience is always daunting, so I was absolutely pumped at the prospect of starting a six-month (paid!) internship. At the time, I thought of this as a stepping stone before moving on to something else. But, I found myself absolutely loving the role, how much I was learning and the sheer amount of responsibility I had - this definitely wasn’t just a ‘making the tea and coffee’ style internship.
