"Spirt, determination, love, strength, unity, culture - so many things to reflect on from yesterday. We continue our celebrations across the week, supporting other organisations as they create moments to celebrate the incredible contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to the identity of this nation." Claire Robbs at the launch of #NAIDOCWeek! #NAIDOC2024 #BlakLoudProud #ThisIsNAIDOC ❤️💛🖤
What a start to NAIDOC week! loved joining our @Life Without Barriers team for the NAIDOC Awabakal March along the foreshore of the lands of the Awabakal and Worimi Peoples. Incredible turn out and the spirit and energy with our team was palpable ❤️ 💛 🖤. And yes I took a selfie - quite hard with a group that big but I think it captures the joy. We started at Civic Park for a Welcome and Smoking ceremony, the theme 'BLAK, LOUD and PROUD' was spoken to with such fire and vibrancy, it was beyond moving. Herbie our therapy dog for the central coast region also joined us for the walk. Needless to say, Herbie is hugely popular and I think needs his own profile account... Later in the afternoon our team continued the celebrations with songs, dances and time to gather and connect. Spirt, determination, love, strength, unity, culture - so many things to reflect on from yesterday. We continue our celebrations across the week, supporting other organisations as they create moments to celebrate the incredible contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the identity of this nation. #Aboriginalcommunity #Reconciliation #Unity #Naidoc #celebrate #community #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek and #BlakLoudProud

Life Without Barriers has joined NAIDOC Week celebrations across the Country and have already taken part in some incredible events. For our team in Newcastle, the day began with staff joining the Awabakal Community NAIDOC March from Civic Park to the Foreshore. Later, we gathered for a special Life Without Barriers' event at our Head Office with Aunty Theresa and the Winanga-y Dreaming dance group. "My aim and hope from today was to show non-indigenous people what NAIDOC Week truly is a celebration of Culture. I was watching the audience in the room, they were listening to Aunty Theresa with the Welcome to Country and her truth telling, and tapping their feet and doing a little dance and shimmy in their seats as Winanga-y Dreaming performed, I realised we were 'Keeping The Fire Burning today'."
