Not one to post stuff like this. However shoutout to Tesco! Not all companies will offer this,I understand the process, the big companies have to push events to make sales, but not everyone wants to see it! Tough time of year for some, check in on your friends and family! Thank you Tesco

No my granddad was my dad in my eyes my roll model and even 28 years later I raise a glass and thank him on Father’s Day. I ask this when did we start being so soft and sorry for ourselves. I mourned that man he died due to British rail. I went and worked as an apprentice at the same site. I celebrate that man as often as I can not forget him.

Business have been doing this for years now! We did this when I worked in CRM at Boots UK over ten years ago. It’s brilliant however not unique and I wonder how these emails now just fall into the ‘noise’ of CRM emails and fail to make the impact or intention they used to.

I like that Bloom & Wild emailed me this week to acknowledge more and more companies are sending these emails, making them counterproductive because you are still receiving dozens of emails about father's day by asking you if you don't want to see them. In response, it has made it part of their email preferences to select which special occasions you do or don't want to hear about, and they're going to stop sending "don't want to hear about...?" emails. I like that they are acknowledging it worked for a while but the solution needs rethinking, and now they're going to try something new.

My late dad didn't believe in fathers day, 'it is a commercial hype'. He was far from a miserable person and whilst I don't want to be a killjoy either and haven't got children, I appreciate the sentiment of what he said. Good move by Tesco, but beware traders of all descriptions large and small in the run up to any special relation days, remember people may be in a bad place and a happy day for lots is the opposite for others, who haven't got that person in their life for whatever reason. You are marketing one artificilly priced day. The people who want to forget this day you still want as a customer the other 360 odd trading days of the year. Be subtle

Most do this now, for both Mothers' and Fathers' days. I don't mind receiving the emails, because I still celebrate them in my heart on those days.

I get these from various organisations for Fathers Day and Mothers Day, unfortunately i opt out of Fathers day :-(

I've seen more of these cropping up over the past 18months or so for various 'celebrations'. I think it's great. We're not just customers, we're human beings and some people don't need/want the noise that comes with Father's Day, Mother's Day, Valentine's etc

I think this is brilliant. I have opted out with thortful and Tesco for anything associated with Mothers Day. It's a hard enough time with all the promo things let alone having an email highlighting the day for weeks before!
