Liam Lombardo’s Post

Just a thought at the end of my week, I've been sick most of this week. I was able to do some work from home. I do love being able to work remotely, but there is an intangible value to being in a room with those you work closely with. I thought about that this week on the days I knew other folks were in the office. Although I could meet with them over Zoom, or send Slack messages, I wasn't overhearing how they tackled their challenges together. I wasn't hearing them resolve conflicts, I wasn't hearing the odd joke, or the not uncommon thank you. Today I've been working at the office and though it's just our CEO and myelf, I'm having a blast. We're listening to music, and it's really just nice to be able to say, "Do you have a moment?", and get some insight into something I might have handled totally different. When was the last time you changed your approuch, by asking someone their thoughts, or overhearing their challenges? #teamwork #wfh #work from the office

Great post Liam Lombardo. It's the human, or in our case at Earthling Interactive, the Earthling factor you missed this week. Certainly, there are efficiencies gained from the now prevalent WFH culture. And each company needs to find the formula that works for them. I believe there is a loss of certain efficiencies or benefits of collaboration from WFH until the team figures out how to solve for them. For example, lost is the ability to hear a conversation, between colleagues who are in the office, about solving some project related challenge and then jumping in with direct feedback that lends experience or know how to help solve it faster, smarter, better... How do you measure that? I don't know, but its real. By the way, for those paying attention, the radio station playlist today was the "Traveling Wilburys."
