TED just posted this. It's OpenAI's chief scientist Ilya Sutskever explaining AGI's potential and potential downside. https://youtu.be/SEkGLj0bwAU?si=c98WKDxVODiC79VV

You mean we need to know what happened at OpenAI last week! I agree

I must express my disagreement. I believe that, similar to other technological advancements, there are advantages in maintaining the proprietary and secretive nature of certain technologies. If we were to be fully transparent, what safeguards would prevent another country, such as China, from exploiting the technology for malicious purposes? Do you trust that countries like China, if they had access to the complete knowledge of how to utilize Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), would use it responsibly? In business and technology, companies often have proprietary methods, algorithms, or business practices that provide them a competitive edge. Full transparency can lead to loss of these proprietary advantages, as competitors may copy or adapt these methods. In business negotiations or partnership discussions, some level of confidentiality is often required to protect strategic interests. Full transparency might undermine these negotiations, as it could reveal tactics, limits, or strategies to other parties, weakening a company's bargaining position.

Agree completely. Just published a preliminary framework for safe development and deployment of AGI, for anyone interested. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/noah-kenney-27499a166_global-artificial-intelligence-framework-activity-7132735620170321920-fEy-?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios
