Historical Moors in Europe:The term “Moor” originally referred to people from the ancient Roman province of Mauretania in North Africa (modern-day Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia). These Berbers and other North African Muslims played a significant role in the history of Spain during the period known as al-Andalus. In 711 A.D., a group of North African Muslims led by the Berber general Tariq ibn-Ziyad captured the Iberian Peninsula (modern Spain and Portugal). Al-Andalus became a prosperous cultural and economic center where education, arts, and sciences flourished. Over time, Christian groups challenged Moorish rule, leading to the gradual expansion of Christian territories. In 1492, Catholic monarchs Ferdinand II and Isabella I completed Spain’s conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, resulting in the expulsion of the Moors from Spain11. Shakespeare’s Depiction:One of the most famous mentions of Moors is in Shakespeare’s play The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice. The titular character, Othello, is a Moor who serves as a general in the Venetian army. Venice was ethnically diverse, and the Moors represented an interchange between Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Unfortunately, Othello is portrayed as exotic, hypersexual, and untrustworthy—a reflection of historic stereotypes of black people11. Moorish Science Temple of America (MSTA):Founded by Noble Drew Ali (born Timothy Drew) in the early 20th century, the MSTA asserts that African Americans are descendants of the Moabites and are “Moorish” by nationality and Islamic by faith22. Members of the MSTA claim a connection to the historical Moors and their heritage. Moorish Sovereign Citizens: Some individuals in the United States identify as Moorish sovereign citizens. They trace their roots to the MSTA and its founder, Noble Drew Ali. These groups assert that they are descended from pre-existing Moors who inhabited North America before white settlers and consider themselves part of a sovereign nation not subject to U.S. laws33.

The Illuminati (/ɪˌluːmɪˈnɑːti/; plural of Latin illuminatus, 'enlightened') is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious. Historically, the name usually refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on 1 May 1776 in Bavaria, today part of Germany. The society's stated goals were to oppose superstition, obscurantism, religious influence over public life, and abuses of state power. "The order of the day," they wrote in their general statutes, "is to put an end to the machinations of the purveyors of injustice, to control them without dominating them."[1] The Illuminati—along with Freemasonry and other secret societies—were outlawed through edict by Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria, with the encouragement of the Catholic Church, in 1784, 1785, 1787 and 1790.[2] During subsequent years, the group was generally vilified by conservative and religious critics who claimed that the Illuminati continued underground and were responsible for the French Revolution. Adam Weishaupt (1748–1830), founder of the Illuminati It attracted literary men such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Gottfried Herder and the reigning Duke of Gotha and of Weimar.[3] In subsequent use, "Illuminati" has been used when referring to various organisations which are alleged to be a continuation of the original Bavarian Illuminati (though these links have not been substantiated). These organisations have often been accused of conspiring to control world affairs, by masterminding events and planting agents in governments and corporations, in order to gain political power, influence and to establish a New World Order. Central to some of the more widely known and elaborate conspiracy theories, the Illuminati are depicted as lurking in the shadows and pulling the strings and levers of power. Abstract: This research paper examines the enduring impact of the Trans-Atlantic war & slavery on Black people by focusing on the inhuman treatment & spiritual dimension of their experience. Drawing from the concept of Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS), the study explores how the legacy of slavery continues to shape the religious and spiritual beliefs, practices, and experiences of Black individuals. The research seeks to understand the role of Christianity in either perpetuating or challenging the spiritual enslavement experienced by African descendants, as well as the ways in which the legacy of mistreatment & denial of basic human rights have persisted today. By examining these aspects, this paper aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the multifaceted impact of the war and slavery on Black people and inform strategies for addressing its ongoing legacies.
