🌟 Guidance for your Professional Journey! 🚀 I had the incredible opportunity to attend an enlightening session on Resume Building, Interview Skills, and Professional Preparation at the International Centre of Excellence (ICE) this Wednesday, December 13th. 👏 Special thanks to Fozan Khan, HR Manager at ibex, for sharing invaluable insights and expertise. I found your personal journey of gaining employment and navigating interviews really helpful! 📝 Notes: although there is a lot that I learned from this session, the 17 pages of notes being a testament to that, I will share the key takeaways to save everyone time: 1. Resume: - Customize your resume based on the job description, don’t send the same resume to every job posting. - Avoid using informal names for your professional email. 2. Using LinkedIn: - Check LinkedIn daily to stay updated on the job market. - Join discussions and comment on industry posts. - Attend events to connect with professionals. 3. Job Search Tips: - Research companies before applying or going to interviews. - Find out about your interviewer before the interview. 4. Interview Tips: - Practice common interview questions, like talking about your strengths and weaknesses. - Pay attention to your body language; it says a lot about you. - Dress appropriately and work on good communication skills. 5. Being Detail-Oriented: - Check your resume for typos. 6. Staying Persistent: - Keep searching for opportunities and don't get discouraged by rejections. - Build a routine by waking up early. - If you don’t have a job lined up join another internship, many students make the mistake of stopping after doing one. 7. How to communicate in Calls: - Answer job calls while standing to sound energetic. - Smile during phone conversations; it makes a positive impact. 8. Taking Notes: - Keep a diary and pen with you at all times. 9. Always Ask Questions: - At the end of the interview ask questions about your position. 10. Building LinkedIn Credibility: - Lead events at your university and share your experiences on LinkedIn. - Remember, building credibility on LinkedIn takes time. 11. Understanding Body Language: - Study body language as a subject; it's crucial in professional settings. - Mastering it can give you an advantage in a competitive environment. 12. Be Honest: - Don't lie in interviews. If you don't know something, admit it instead of pretending. 13. Reading Social Cues: - Pay attention to social cues and adapt accordingly. 14. Overcoming Stage Fright: - Work on the fear of public speaking; it will impact your career. 15. Handling Multiple Questions: - Be ready for answering multiple questions at once in interviews those will show how well you handle stress and pressure. 🙏A sincere thank you to everyone involved in making this session possible. 🔗#ProfessionalSkills #ICE #IBEX
