Changing the future for nearly 80,000 youth every year, preparing them for work and life. Leadership is KEY to this relationship-focused, strategic and innovative thinker, results-oriented, coach, and speaker.
Preparing for this situation below is part of our operational strategy. Whether it be a power outage, active shooter situation, medical emergency, etc. we have protocols and processes. But it’s not enough to have processes written in a manual. Ongoing training and practice is critical to preparation and execution. These physical trainings are part of our onboarding process and are scheduled throughout the year to ensure we know exactly what to do in each situation and remain calm. Way to go Team Junior Achievement of South Florida for your flawless execution during yesterdays power outage. Your swift and intentional actions ensured the safety and security of all. How are you addressing security and safety training in your organization?
A little setback didn't discourage our team from serving the Broward County Public Schools students in JA Finance Park and JA BizTown. Today, the power went out across Broward County, including at JA World Huizenga Center at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion. Our programs team worked together to make sure the buses were there to pick up the 5th and 8th graders, and the entire JA staff remained calm and made sure our building was safe for everyone. Kudos to you all! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #thepowerofpossibilities Join us. Check out job opportunities and apply today. https://lnkd.in/dRDW6rid

Yes Mike Miles…it’s going to take grit, strategic vision, committed, well-trained and aligned educators and leaders, urgency of action, and inalienable courage to “right”/transform our current archaic and inequity-based public education system. As a staunched supporter of public education of which I am a proud product of, I and the @HISDCentral Division team is committed to doing our part to prevent our beloved public education system from imploding. The truth is that even when most don’t yet get it, HISD Community Board get why “this is not only impossible; it’s necessary” (Interstellar). The truth is that if we wait for others to get it…it will be too late for our current students. Our students can’t wait and deserve better from us!!! Many still claim to be student-centered…and, no doubt continue to work very hard, however, many are failing to innovate at the scale needed. At HoustonISD we are at the tipping point of wholesale, systemic transformation in public education. Watch us! In reality, most often educational leaders give in to the demands of the adults and—worst yet— (1) to the ill-informed decisions of ineffective and biased school boards or community members who consciously choose to support the status quo to protect their comfort zones or their coveted seats, (2) to those who ignore the world and workplace forward reality, (3) to those who are blatantly oblivious to the fact that “this is the last generation of students before the skills and opportunity gaps are too deep.” We are NOT giving up. As long as we have the opportunity and honor to serve our HISD students, we will continue to be part of what our students need and deserve—I am in! We are ALL in! Let’s keep moving forward. @HoustonISD
Great job Mike. I am more of a fan of Charters and Private Schools. I really did not think the Superintendent Job was necessary considering the average one only lasts 3 years, and most are ineffective to student outcomes. Mike Miles work in Dallas & Houston and his reorginization model gives new hope for large Urban Districts.

PSA from the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office As the first day of school quickly approaches, we wanted to remind parents of a simple safety tip when posting that back-to-school photo. While we know these photos are fun to take and look back on for memories, keeping your child's personal information at a minimum is important. By sharing your child's school, grade, teacher, interests, etc. you are giving predators unique information about your child and where they can find them.
